With or without family?
If family is a place where we have to be fully responsibility with family members no matter how they care for your feeling.For examples:
1. HAVE TO be a good girl (good scores at school, no bar, no pub, no club, no drugs)
2. HAVE TO be graduated from a famous University (no matter you like that University or not)
3. HAVE TO be married by someone (no matter you love him or not).
4. HAVE TO to have kids after being married.
5. HAVE TO live with husband until end of life no matter what's happening...
If those are considered as a family, then, I have a BIG family where I was able to afford only number 1 & number 2 in that responsibility list...
From the book, I always thought family is where I can share not only happiness, but also sadness in my life, where I can always feel comfortable to come back when I'm down... but in fact, I never ever had such a family! Sad but truth, I only can share with my family my happiness...
Oh, wait... I used to have a "family" where I felt so comfortable to be with, where I can feel being loved unconditionally, where I feel endlessly love... But, that "family" left me for some reasons.
Now, I don't know if I do have a family or do not? Christmas passed, New Year is going to come... where is my family?? Where I can come back and say: "Please hug me! Please give me more energy for moving on in this hard world!"

I just looked at your profile and I believe you need to change it if you are going to attract any men! You need to remove your love interest for Crocodile on there; otherwise you are never going to attract a good man! JMO. You are a very pretty woman and it is just a matter of time before the right man comes along!

Not only women have those problems of sometimes outlandish expectations from the family.
I grew up in a family that thought my brother Johnny was the cream of the crop. I was the black sheep of the family.
Johnny would succeed and I would fail. Hee Hee! I'm still around and I am a-ok!
Just keep up your good work, my beautiful friend, and concentrate on what you know and do and your thoughts of the success and expectations of your family will go away in time!
WHY? Because you are successful and it appears your doing fine!
Those are possible goals, but never rules.
Also if you are over 18 you are expected to beginning making your own path and stop following someone else's antique vision. Family will become the shape you decide, not them.

I don't usually get into arguments but your getting way out of line with Mimi. Many of us love her dearly because she is sweet and kind.
I don't know what your problem is other than jealousy! So my advice to you is to act decent and you'll see how many people will come to you like we do with Mimi!
