Going with the flow

In going to and from work, I have to pass some rice paddies. As it is planting season, the open canals serve as part of the irrigation system when water from the river is diverted to it. Iam fascinated with different kinds of water creatures I get to see frolicking in the water. One time I saw a couple of black fish around 6 inches and at another time probably longer than that. Maybe they thought they've found a new kind of adventure or maybe the flow was too swift for them to avoid. They were swimming here and there and seeing them made me appreciate more my adopted country. Such clear water you could even see the shrimp like creature crawling down below. I won't see such clear waters in my home country unless I go to far off provinces. Still in far off provinces, you won't appreciate it either because of carabao dungs. Those water creatures would continue swimming here and there until the water ran dry when the source is closed. By then, they won't fascinate me anymore but they'll serve another purpose as fertilizer to the rice fields or as feeds to the birds. And all their fault was to go with the flow.

Where did you learn such good English?

We called carabao, 'kerbau' in Malay. Water buffalo.

Lots of paddy fields near my hometown as well. Egrets in abundance in these rice paddies. I ever stopped the car and stepped out to take some pics some them.

Enjoy the rest of your evening, Tatami bouquet
@Dream, very rare to see egrets in my place but I always see some flying over going somewhere. I remember when I was working in Mie Ken, I always saw groups of them fishing in the river. I have in my home in Quezon City, a fiberglass egret in my mini garden. So peaceful looking. Hope you too have a good day. Thanks for dropping by.bouquet

tata, From here on forward, I will only compliment the quality of your writing when it is written in very good Japanese or 1/2 Chinese and 1/2 English. wave

@Red, nice profile pic. I couldn't help myself but take a look at your profile. Indeed, a different kind of aura than before. Me, I've been very busy working 11 hrs a day, 6 days a week. But I do find time to tinker the computer. It's my only safe form of past time. Yes, I do appreciate the God given beauty of nature. That's why walking for some 30 mins isn't so dreary. Thanks for sharing.heart wings
@Rocking, I do want to be challenged but even if I said Iam half Chinese, I wasn't able to attend a Chinese school. In my home country it is quite expensive. But I do remember some foul ords my father used to say when he was angry. And I do want to converse in Japanese for I've been here for more than 20 yrs yet my Japanese is minimal. My formal Japanese study was only 2 months. The rest of my Nihonggo came from watching TV. So to your dismay, I'd say I simply can't. Rest assured if I win the Lotto, I'd enroll in the best university here. grin
