RE: So over getting older

We need to pull you out of this mindset hug

This age of yours has you thinking old withered & the end of the world

I get this feeling that you feel bored with life which leaves you at times feeling depressed so to speak

There is a woman at my gym whom has the body of a 20 year old yet she's 75 years old

There is 93 year old Anne she has a walker & is very unsteady on her feet yet she's always smiling in the heated pool walking up & down that pool till our Aquafit class starts

Experts here stand by the Mediterranean diet & our CSIRO diet

Nope not at you attending a gym or anything like that but just my way of saying come on you can get out of this thing of feeling old

RE: So over getting older

If your dog walks are a problem, perhaps you could fit it with Cuban heels and it would then walk with a feisty attitude. You could do similar and get your castanets out.
dancing

Probably a stupid question but -

But Conrad, you don't mention how your aprés habits changed as a result, this is crucial to the research and you are a priceless resource giggle

So over getting older

¿Hola, que tal? My whinging is more because my various activities demand being able to hear perfectly, see clearly, and be able to whoosh up and down stairs, to earn my daily crust, plus walk that dog 3 times a day to avoid cleaning up the terrace, so when the things I need most are targeted I feel very hard done by, haha. This was a post to let off steam and yours is an inspirational reply hug thank you. If I were to try instead to count blessings that broken molar knocked off some weight as I am petrified of dentists and was avoiding eating for a while (until the deaf set in and the molar Had To Go). Oh, and my specs are fab cool that's a positive too ... grin

So over getting older

Flamenco is native to my province and as it happens the Casa de la Cultura, where I do my Spanish lessons, has flamenco classes at the same time so as we extranjeros wait for our teacher to open up we are surrounded by little girls in swirling skirts and one-inch clacking heels on their shoes ... like skiing, best started young! All that stamping and swirling and looking wonderfully arrogant not the best match for my meek and shy personality, and the dog would be bitterly offended by any energy not poured into her 3 walks a day? laugh

He said a number of times that he had a plot for his burial with his wife and also something about a certain kind of tree being planted there.

May he rest, reunited and finally at peace.

Thanks Jac never thought of that.laugh

Name calling, or being told you lack intelligence is not a challenge to your argument, or opinion.

It's most frequently an act of frustration. hmmm

RE: So over getting older

Hola Suzie wave

I'm proud to be 84 and all that it throws at me. I'm told I don't look my age but that doesn't mean that I don't feel itgrin My profile picture is me last year ,out there and proud.

3 replacement joints on I'm still up to walking with my local well being group and would even dance if I could .My boogie bouncer is great for exercise and a spot of gardening on my patio keep me occupied.

The most important part of ageing in my opinion is also keeping the brain active hence my visits to the blogs for my sins.Sitting in front of a T.V. all day is not my forte.

Embrace growing old and be positive as the only direction it's going is forward.

RE: So over getting older

If I lived in Spain, I would definitely try flamenco. This dance I believe was introduced originally to Spain by Roma gypsies. I understand there are plenty of classes that teach this, and don't believe certain people that unless you're Spanish you can't perform well.

RE: Changing someones opinion... in CS

I don't mind being challenged but I do object to being insulted because my response is not what they want to hear.

Other than that I'm always open to persuasion and a possible change of thought.grin

If you examine your lifestyle and think about the food you eat and the exercise you take, you could benefit greatly. You're in Spain, so have you considered s form of dance? For example, 'flamenco.' This is full of passion.

One pack of twenty now costs as much or more than a Carton of two-hundred back in the early sixties!
99% or so are taxes, supposedly to go into the Social Security Fund!
Glad I kicked the habit in '94!

HOLIDAY IN THAILAND

Daphne
You sound as though you have much knowledge of these ladies who hang around bars etc, looking for vulnerable dudes. Did you see any evidence of this and were you ever approached yourself?

Probably a stupid question but -

Bored and had nothing else to do? Been there, done that handshake

Probably a stupid question but -

As best I remember, it's the version where you don't want to get dressed and escape as soon as possible rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Changing someones opinion... in CS

Having my mind changed - or suddenly seeing something in a completely different light - is the reason I read the blogs. Doesn't happen often but yup, what a rush! That "wow, I didn't realise!" is awesome.

RE: Changing someones opinion... in CS

Media and politics dance to their puppeteers.

The illusion is in believing that the politician you voted into power, or the party he / she represents, will be working in your interests and will make necessary changes. One continues to vote because the promises made are more favourable than the promises made by the alternatives, but no longer believes they will be kept. Plus ca change, plus c'est la même chose.

RE: Changing someones opinion... in CS

It's not about changing someone else's opinion.

It's about developing your own.

You progress little if you only spend time with people who agree with your every word, or you theirs because no new information is introduced.

When people challenge you, no matter how reasoned, or ridiculous, it inspires you to research and to well-thought presentation of a counter-argument.

Although once in a while, someone may present an argument so accurate and persuasive that there is a dramatic shift in your perspective.

That can be an exquisite experience.

RE: Probably a stupid question but -

I've considered the OP's question for a good few minutes now, and I have concluded that it is, actually, a stupid question. I'm not sure why I've wasted my time answering it

RE: Probably a stupid question but -

I was wondering that as well, I just seek and destroy

RE: HOLIDAY IN THAILAND

Yeah, shuttlecock is what you'd find in her knickers, which I imagine is the real reason why you want to go there

RE: Changing someones opinion... in CS

It's probably due to most Democrats being far too intelligent to start supporting the defunct Republican party, while those who are part of the Trump cult find it impossible to realise they have been lied to and manipulated due to a severe lack of intelligence. Just my opinion, not based on any actual facts.

What Makes Jesus Unique? No one else made the claims that He did, He is alive...............

The Gospel of John
The so-called "spiritual gospel" which presents Jesus as the "Stranger from Heaven," stands apart from the other three.
by Marilyn Mellowes

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God, and through him were all things made." These words of the opening prologue of the fourth gospel provide a clue to the nature of this work: it stands apart from the three synoptic gospels. It has often been called the "spiritual gospel" because of the way that it portrays Jesus.

If Matthew's Jesus resembles Moses and Luke's Jesus resembles a Greek philosopher or a semi-divine hero, John's Jesus resembles the Jewish ideal of heavenly Wisdom. Some Jewish works written several hundred years before John's gospel portrayed Wisdom as God's heavenly consort. This Wisdom, pictured as a beautiful woman, lived with God and participated in creation. Another part of the myth regarding her was that she descended to earth to impart divine knowledge to human beings. But she was rejected and so returned to God.

Another interesting feature of John's gospel is that Jesus speaks in long monologues, rather than pithy statements or parables. He openly proclaims his divinity and insists that the only way to the Father is through him. Motifs of light and darkness are woven throughout the gospel: these are not simply literary motifs, but devices that give clues about the community for which John was written.

It was a community under stress. The gospel itself suggests that its members were in conflict with the followers of John the Baptist and were undergoing a painful separation from Judaism. The group itself was probably undergoing desertion and internal conflict.

Tradition has credited John, the son of Zebedee and an apostle of Jesus, with the authorship of the fourth gospel. Most scholars dispute this notion; some speculate that the work was actually produced by a group of early Christians somewhat isolated from other early Christian communities. Tradition also places its composition in or near Ephesus, although lower Syria or Lebanon are more likely locations. The most likely time for the completion of this gospel is between 90 and 110 CE.

You are a comedian...
The moment you mentioned Trump...lol...laugh
When travelling abroad it is important to be aware of what kind of scams that are taking place including illegal activity such as sex trafficking (underage) unless you want to end up in jail and on the sex offenders list...
It is also important to be realistic and self aware...in regards of being scammed for financial gain...a young woman is probably not wanting your company if you are an old white dude unless there is some kind of payment involved...so if you are looking for a love match...probably not going to happen...
Nothing wrong with paying for sex or companionship with another consenting adult but be mindful of the risks involved...
I said nothing about the intelligence of the young women...it is the disadvantage of being poor that is why they are hustling in bars...
