Health foods? Macrobiotics? Micronutrients? Pickle craving when....

...there's a little something in the old naughty hottie oven? Might even be a nice topic for some hottie grad student working on that PhD, at the prestigious Vierk Institutet for the Study of Syndromes of Cognition and Behaviors.
All such hottie students must meet with the director thrice weekly. Meetings are only in the love nest at the top of one of the old 30 +meter evergreens, on the vast Vierk Estate. But do I ever digress.
So, All my adopted dogs and kitties seem to have eaten grass, of only certain types, to induce vomiting, whenever they seem to have a tummy upset. Often after eating a big real indigestible Yummy soup bone, or such.
Bravo did so again just this AM. What's up? Vet's I've asked are clueless.

Useful Knowledge.......

.....as opposed to otherwise.... Recently went to one of those new coffee shops that form an alternative to the usually ueber liberal caffeine haunts. A growth industry. This one is named Covfefe, after an apparent blotched tweet by our supreme POTUS dear leader. Trump mugs, coffee bags, bumper stickers, pens/pins, flags, etc. , and the types of characters one might expect to meet there. The crowd were talking excitedly about President Trump's responses to Covid19. There was the usual dissing of the dissing of Trump. But no shortage of conspiracy talk. To anyone with a modicum of biological or medical knowledge, the theories were ridiculous. But I just listened, in line with my personal evolution in this present life. But I digress. These folks were absolutely convinced that the virus was created in, pick your foe, a weapons lab in NK, PRC, Russia, Israel, Ukraine, or by CIA types. Got me thinking about how and why folks assume their knowledge. Believe whatever we may, but if several personal factors around this are lacking, we might be in support of great errors, or worse. These would include: attention to the value of experience, verses novel info;- realization that science only can provide information, which must be subjected to scrutiny;-that when such "knowledge" gets turned into policy, the policy makers are far from their own political biases;-any policy must be evaluated for efficacy in an ongoing fashion;- and much more. And two other items. Where is our humility in any of this? And perhaps most importantly, what does grandmother have to say about the issue?

Apogee... the Ring of Fire

On Sunday, June 21, the annular solar eclipse will be visible. Unfortunately, it will be visible in Pakistan, India, China and parts of Africa with a partial eclipse in parts of Eastern Europe and Northern Australia.

This type of solar eclipse occurs when a new moon is near its farthest point from Earth (called its apogee), forming a straight line with the Earth and the sun. This event occurs once a year.

So, if you are in the area affected and want to witness this phenomena, wear proper eye protection and you will see the rim of the sun around the moon creating the 'Ring of Fire' effect.

Hopefully, I can catch this event on a streaming source like YouTube from the comfort of my home!

VIRUSES AND MANKIND

On 27 August 1918, there were a number of cases in Bombay, India, of a particular virus. On the same day in Boston, USA, there were similar cases reported. The virus was Spanish flu and the effect of that pandemic was to kill over 25 million people.
How did this virus begin at opposite sides of the earth at the same time. The only form of travel was by boat and the journey by anyone would have taken a long time. The virus developed within 24 hours.
Astro biologists state that meteors and comets contain microorganisms, and that these microbes are able to survive in virtually any temperatures especially cold or even freezing. It is thought that meteor showers delivered this virus. But why select two opposite sides of this planet? And at the same time.? Was this by accident, or deliberate interference by extra terrestrial beings. Was the introduction of this virus to test the human races resistance to such disease and prepare them for the future, or to reduce the population?
75 000 years ago, beings on this planet underwent a sudden mysterious change in mental capacity. They began to write, draw and record their experiences. Some people believe that the continuous bombardment of this planet by meteors etc may have been a method of introducing viruses to affect the DNA structure and consequently gradually change the development of humans.

Astronomers Just Discovered a 'Bear' on Mars

There's no denying, the crater looks like a bear's face. We've seen some crazy craters on Mars over the years from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter's High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment camera (HiRISE) – like the famous smiley face, or an elephant and a bird.

But what could possibly create the weird feature in the middle of the crater that is shaped like a bear's snout?

"There's a hill with a V-shaped collapse structure (the nose), two craters (the eyes), and a circular fracture pattern (the head)," said HiRISE principal investigator Alfred McEwen. "The circular fracture pattern might be due to the settling of a deposit over a buried impact crater. Maybe the nose is a volcanic or mud vent and the deposit could be lava or mud flows? Maybe just grin and bear it."

Anti-Vaxx fear mongering is not a new problem...

Today I read an article that described an anti-vaccination movement that started early in the 19th century where people were skeptical of the smallpox vaccine. They stated the side effects they dreaded were far more terrifying.

For example: blindness, deafness, ulcers, a gruesome skin condition called "cowpox mange" - even sprouting hoofs and horns.

Publications with artist sketches were passed out to (mis) inform the public.

We are into bigger lies such as 'Bill Gates put microchips in the vaccine and when you are near a 5G tower, it will turn you into a zombie.

Pretty amazing if you ask me.
My question is: "How do they get one microchip into a tiny needle from a vile of vaccine?"
I am told 'the microchip is already in the needle'

The Ring of Fire...

There will be a solar eclipse tomorrow morning, Saturday, October, 14, 2023 that will run in an 'S' curve diagonally across the United States, through Central America and sweep out across Brazil.
Starting around 8am in Oregon and goes to 10:30 in Texas. They are the lucky ones to see a full eclipse. With the exception of the the northeast, Pennsylvania to Maine are out of the path. More than half of America should see some of the eclipse.
It's called a ring of fire because some places will see a perfectly aligned eclipse where the sky will darken and only the outer edges of the sun will show through giving an illusion of the fiery ring.

Yahoo has a news story:

Time & Date actually have an interactive map showing the graduated areas of the most eclipse.

Always, there are warnings not to look directly at the sun, only former presidents can do that. Use a pinhole projector or specialized eclipse glasses. Always there will be reports of people losing their vision because they stared at the sun without proper protection.
Don't be a statistic.

We humans do it all the time...negativity...even in Medicine...

...who goes to the auto mechanic, inquiring about what's RIGHT in the car? It's everywhere, often justified, in trying to improve the world. As when I rant on American HS public school teachers, and those for on line ESL English to unsuspecting foreigners, holding nary a bit of certification much less talent for the craft. Excepting perhaps occasionally being driven to wax pseudo-edudite, with forced, VERY forced, usages, not least of which silly similes and metaphors.
And other admitted pathetic human wannabee failures in life. But I do digress.
Western medicine has worked under similar restraints, and biases, with rare exceptions. Apropos C-19, we can consider the whole field, where formal indices, VERY formal, for well being have long been in play. Cardiac/circulatory fitness, blood sugar levels, pulmonary diffusion, and intelligence.
But how about a focus on immune competence? Dozens of named non-fittness situations for this complex multifaceted system are used daily.. Severe combined Immunodeficiency syndromes, various B and T cell low number disorders, and complement and cytokine inadequacies. Hell, even when there are surpluses, as with auto immune conditions, they all get characterized as bad. What gives, Peebles?
Recall, in ancient times, practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Herbals/Acupuncture) only got paid when the customers were HEALTHY. It got worse if you failed as the emperor's doc. OUCH!
If they can give our last affirmative action, VERY affirmative, POTUS that coveted liberal Nobel prize, for nothing---after months in office, why not the VIERK, and his hottie intern laden Institute for the same?
You heard it here first, the Vierk Institutet Index for Immune Health. VIIIH---sort of has a nice ring to it, NO? Whereby, guided by all the pathology noted above, each of us can be so place into our own little boxes of health and well being. And tests, and even screening protocols, exist for such, in time becoming streamlined and cost effective.
It could range from zero to 100, in combined VIERK units of immune health. Honoring the age a few of us hope to reach. VERY few.
It would have lots of utility, as with us intrepid volunteers, leading AA groups in jails, and cutting spuds at soup kitchens, where there's no shortage of C-19 affected clients, and exposures. And many other clinical and public health preventive uses. As I again spread about, VERY about, my many virtues, in rank digression.
My many fans here, VERY many, who wish to nominate me, please do so using the abbreviation for the index, and the name of the research lab. Please don't misspell VIERK!
A year of free good cigars, Parisian perfume and NZ chardonnay, to whomever gets my name up there first.
You can trust us, we in thoroughly honest scientific endeavor. We are not like all those others.
