When and length of infectivity, ---presyndromtic, symptomatic or during convalescence? Mutation rates, and by what routes? Animal reservours? Arthropod and other vectors? Natural history of virus---convalescent states, harboring in CNS? All not likely .Droplet, fomites or other methods of spread, just for starters. And as we Yanks did to the over run Europe during the last two wars, we were the true Calvary, We, this DEMOCRATIC, HIGH PERSONAL FREEDOM state, with others. So, one party state leaders were running things, as always, in the PRC. In total medical ignorance, reluctance to seek or even trust the epidemiologists, fear of loss of tourist money, and perhaps public panic. But again, true to form, this last had little to do with concern for public health or effective control measures, and a ALL to do with these leaders' deadly fear of popular backlashes against them. But don't just take my words for it. Tiannamen tanks, PLA troupes and machine guns. And bodies galore. All covered up, and can't ever appear in school text books. Yep, bad/corrupt/fearful government can be as powerful an epidemiological factor as can the characteristics of the infectious agent. But don't take my words for it---just stay tuned. In this month's Scientific American, these issues get discussed. Sadly, the whole article focuses on classical null hypothesis rejection using p values, or "confidence" intervals. Alternatives are discussed, such as Baysian approaches, or a new gimmick, how things don't seem right by analogy with repeated coin tossing. I wish the writer had had more knowledge of research methodology, including various study approaches, and analytical biases. Current approaches merely attempt to rule out errors based on chance. The real meat of the process comes with discussion of results. This would include: Degrees of strength of findings, dose response trends, analyses of biases and efffect modification, appropriateness of study designs, biological/physical/chemical coherence, funding/publication biases,----and how results fit with existing evidence in building stronger theory of any scientifically answerable questions. But it does touch on how hard it is for humans to think outside of existing theoretical boxes. Yet ignores how all this relates to crafting real policy in the real world.

To be exact, Jupiter and Saturn, the great gas bodies in our solar system.

Anyway, something is about to happen, that hasn't happened this much in 800 years and you can witness it this month.

Every 2 decades or so, Jupiter and Saturn appear to get quite close in the sky. They actually aren't close. They are 8 times less close to each other as we are to the sun. However, their orbits around our sun align them from our perspective to make them appear close,
as we see them in our night sky. This year they will seem so close, that they will overlap each other. The last time that happened was back in the year of 1226. Perhaps some of you remember it ?
When it happens, it will appear brighter than any star in the sky.

The night you can see it is on December 21st. Better mark it on your calendar. You forgot the last one.

The smallest quantum particle that carries information are the qubit and the qutrit. In the past few years on multiple occasions qutrits have successfully been teleported. Yes, the Beam me up Scotty kind of teleportation.

Qubits are analogous to the Bit of the computer world. When you have 8 computer Bits you have a you have a computer Byte. Qutrits are the Bytes of the quantum world. Add enough of them and you have atoms, molecules, heat, light, etc.

Short sighted scientists only see the successful teleportations as the first steps to a quantum computer. They forget when you have enough Bytes you have a word, or a pixel, etc.

They forget, every atom, every spark, even every photon contains trillions of Qutrits. If you can instantaneously move one Qutrit, eventually you can move an unlimited number of them arranged however you want.

There are two different things to play with. Do we want to move an original? Yes it would be nice to spend your lunch break at the best brothel in Paris, then beam back at the end of the lunch hour to your boring factory job in San Francisco or Tokyo. I confess I am not sure how Customs or Passport control will work when that technology reaches the masses. One could of course suddenly beam a whole army to take over someone else's capital. Or beam a bomb into an aircraft. Such things fiction today may not be in the future.

But wait there is a better way. Once we learn which Qubits are the yes bit and which ones are the no or the maybe, then why move anything. Collect the Qubits you want, assemble them in the Qutint configuration you desire and beam your new creation into being wherever you wish. Some kinky folk may like sending quantum clones of themselves to the Paris brothel, so they can talk about it when or if their duplicate returns. Others may wish to create a probe on a far away planet without any need for a spaceship. The evil ones will calculate the energy release of an H bomb in Qutrits, then beam that energy into creation in an opposing capital. Of course that is overkill. Just teleport small pieces of junk into a political opponents heart, brain or liver. No need to shoot them if you can just teleport the bullet into them.

The future comes

that HC can increase mortality, and heart issues, in the treatment of Covid -19. British Medical Journal embarrassed, again. As was the Lancet for touting an association between vaccinations and Autism, based merely of an anecdotal case series of 8 pediatric patients. Any lessons here? There are quite a few for fair minded folks to learn from.
For starters, detecting and characterizing valid relationships between illness and other factors in free living human populations, is tricky business. Policy from science rests on much more than research outcomes, however seemingly robust. Less so if results are weak, or inconsistent.
Just as important, we must be ever vigilant of how politics can influence science. The Universities and research labs are largely staffed and administered by folks of one political view. Just as those of big Pharma, perhaps in other profit oriented biased directions.
And relying reflexively on clearly biased media resources, such as the NYT, or Washington Post, for scientific information, is fraught with danger of being in error. Reporting/journalism often has become political activism, leading to similar invalid information. Fortunately, we now have much better understanding of how this goes, with the clear existence of Trump Derangement-Hilary Deficit Syndromes. It goes like this. One reads a story on some biased outlet. Instantly, in a rush to support ones side, and to feel smug and clever, without reflection, the typing/posting starts. It's all made much worse when the sufferers of the Syndromes have little, and often none, of the needed education for supporting such often biased assertions. Teaching in HS, and a little time working as a lab assistant, or realtor, etc., are honorable gigs, but inadequate to the task.
Finally, RED MAN BAD, is the deep syndromic emotion. But RM not always wrong, is often the truth..

...Individual adult therapies, groups for children, families, couples, even our dogs. Most folks would be surprised to learn of how the various programs that train counselors teach the craft. Many adhere to unproved dogma, such as rank behavioralism, or Freudian psychodynamics. Where there is some evidence of efficacy, as with CBT, didactics are often sloppy. You read papers or books on the techniques, then have supervision during training, on what goes on in working with your charges. Rarely, mostly in learning family work, two way mirrors are involved. but systematic testing on knowledge, techniques or success is not the rule. No wonder we hear of so many incompetent counselors. But when AI advances enough, perhaps using depth cybernetics, based on quantum phenomena and speed, and including near human levels of relating, psychotherapy may finally be much more effective. And as an added bonus, no more having the doctor trying to put her hand up your kilt.
