The bike rack...

I live in a large condo community, probably a few hundred units with golf, tennis 3 pools and some restaurants. I live on the 2nd floor and considering to buy a bike for some exercise but there aren't any bike racks near me. My choice is the drag the bike up the stairs or use the elevator. The problem with the elevator are signs restricting people only (they complain if you are carrying luggage) and a weight restriction.
I called the president of the HOA and asked if there would be a chance to install one rack by the courtyard entrance. She said no. They decided that no one living there is young enough to ride a bicycle. I thought WTF... no one is young enough?
So I brought up the subject of permission to take the bike into the elevator. She didn't have an answer and asked the weight of the bike... Less than 50 pounds was my response and she said she would place a call to the elevator company.

I assured her the woman in the electric wheelchair at the end of the building wouldn't be restricted access to the elevator! That's one of the reasons they were installed.

She said she would get back to me on that.
It's been 4 days and I've heard nothing.

No one living there young enough to ride a bike??

Don’t you wish you had superpowers?

I wish I had superpowers. Yes, not just one, but different ones.

Throughout the centuries, via comic books, tv shows and movies we’ve been exposed to witches & warlocks, superheroes & villains, all with special powers/talents that amazed us during the early stages of our life. We wanted to have such talents, and some of us even pretended to.
Besides wealth, ‘superpowers’ is probably something that everyone would wish that they had. I’m certain that I’m not the only person who imagined myself having such powers/talents as a child (and even as an adult) to ‘save’ myself (and or others) during the most frustrating or frightening times in my/their life.
With all the turmoil that good people are facing in the world today, think how useful that would be. It would really have been nice if some of us (i.e. superheroes, NOT villains) had superpowers.

What a difference that could make.hmmm wine

I wanna go home

The other day a neighbor asked me if I could take her to the Verizon store in town because she didn't have transportation at the time and she wanted to get a new phone for her husband who was getting hard of hearing and their phone didn't have enough volume for him. She already had a smart phone. So, off we went. We got to the store and a very nice salesman asked if he could help us. We sat at his desk and the business of obtaining another phone began. He had his smart phone which he was using instead of a computer and she had her smart phone out and using it to get the info he was seeking as I sat there silently watching these 2 conducting their business both paying more attention to their phones than to each other, a sudden urge came over me that I had been transported way into the future to a world I was very unfamiliar with. All I could think of was getting away from this place. I guess I was so deep in my thoughts that I just blurted out "I wanna go home." "But we just got here." the woman said and the salesman looked at me like I was a retard. "No, not back to the house, I wanna go back to the 50's when people looked at each other when they talked, I wanna walk around Central Park, I wanna ride my bike, I wanna go across the street to "Baldies" candy store and get a Coke in a green glass bottle, I wanna go fishing in Castle Lake." I wanna hear "Rock Around the Clock", I wanna see Jack Benny." I felt the tears welling up in my eyes and got up and said I'll be outside in the car and walked out of the store.
I went out to the car and sat behind the wheel and wept like a baby. Where did it all go? Where are all my friends? How did I get here? Is this what we all wished for? I felt lost. I wonder where Danny is? Oh yeah, he died a couple of years ago, Cancer. His older brother Jesse the same. Jimmy must be pretty old by now, he's probably dead too. Rudy jumped out of a 4th floor window because he couldn't kick a Heroin habit. Just about everyone I knew as a kid were dead.
A few minutes later my neighbor came out of the store and we went home. "Are you ok to drive?" she asked. "Yeah I'm fine'. I said and we drove back and I dropped her off at her house.

Make that 17,999...

A blog appeared last week about 18,000 illegals entering into the United States daily. I followed the name of the guy who made that claim to see he does podcasts and his website asks his listeners for money. I compare that to TV Evangelists and ex-presidents.
Anyway, one day they fell short of 18,000...

That story made it on Monday. Old news... right?

Now it's the BDS...

It seems like a lifetime has passed when Hillary Clinton won the popular vote and Donald Trump won the presidency.
So the conservativvs (yes, I misspelled it like one of the members here who is unable to correctly spell Obama, Hillary, Democrat, or anything that's not Rebublickan) coined a phrase Trump Derangement Syndrome or TDS for short.

Fast forward to the present:
Trump is out and Biden is in. No I don't want lectures about 'Stop the Steal' and Trump being the rightful president. The America I know doesn't recognize that belief.

So just like Trump Derangement Syndrome then, it's the Biden Derangement Syndrome now.

Don't believe me?
Do a Pro-Biden blog.

With Trump mentioned or not in the blog, you are guaranteed to get some resistance.
Chances are they are afflicted with the BDS.

Pink Floyd: Hey Hey Rise Up...

It's been a generation since Pink Floyd recorded together. They recently reunited in the studio to record and produce a fundraiser for the people of Ukraine.
Inspired by singer Andriy Khlyvnyuk of the Ukrainian band Boombox, who ended his US tour and returned home in Kyiv to defend his country.

Flash Bang...

In an attempt to deter vehicle (or contents) theft, a guy rigs his truck with an explosive set to go off when someone gains entry and tampers with the interior.
Described as a loud, non-lethal triggered deterrent set up in the center console of the truck.

He installed surveillance video to capture the event.

Intended to scare off a would-be thief, it's one of those 'Don't try this at home' events, because the owner of the vehicle would be liable should the thief actually be harmed.

Yeah... that reminds me of the shop owner who was tired of thieves getting into his store via the roof mounted air vent. He wired the interior grill so that someone trying to remove it (and gain access into the building) would get an electrical shock and back off. Unfortunately (for him) it sent 120 volts through someone completing the circuit and the guy fried like a hotdog in a toaster oven!
He was sued by the dead man's family.

The Real Gender Equality

A historical verdict ...

Bombay (Mumbai) high court order is finally showing us , what should be the real justice..

Personally I think , it's really disrespectful to claim maintenance to survive , from the X life partner(both , husband or wife) , after divorce ..

Only children should get maintenance till adulthood.. And that should be distributed by both parents equally as well ..

thumbs up

Remembering...

I'm searching for an old blog this morning and came across a few comments by Bearwoman who left us a few years ago. A friend had her password and came to announce she had died.

She is not forgotten...

APOLOGIES FOR HISTORICAL ACTS

The Duke and duchess of Cambridge are visiting the Carribbean at present, and have faced opposition from inhabitants, particularly in Belize. The objection is to Britain's history and connection with the slave trade and failure to apologise. The Duke said that he was sorry for the abhorrent practice of slavery.
Should any country apologise for their wrongful acts in their history even though the present regime is not in any way responsible.
How many countries can say they have a blameless history?
dunno
