Today's annoyance: Drop Down Menus...

I went to the Home Depot site, typed in a selection and before I could choose from the options, the drop-down menu got in the way and I had to back arrow and start again.

Local weather channel has a hair-trigger drop down menu that takes a few seconds to release to let you make a selection from the main page.

One of the helicopter retailers has a series of 'land mines' that drop down with pop-ups that force the user to wait before making selections. Crossing your mouse over a menu opens other (unwanted) menus that lock waiting for graphics to generate. Sometimes it's quicker to close the page and open a new one bypassing the delay in the system.

Spin Cycle...

One of my requirements of buying a condo is it had to have a washer & dryer within the unit. I shopped some communities where they had one laundry room at the end of the hallway serving all the occupants of that floor. That could be 10 apartments to use 2 washers.
Are you serious? I shower daily and use a clean towel every time. I don't wear the same jeans 6 days in a row. Laundry is serious business with me and has as long as I can remember.
Some townhouses in this area have a laundry room for every 6 units. You have to carry laundry outside of your unit... rain or shine. That doesn't work for me as Laundry often gets done anywhere in a 24 hour schedule and sometimes dry clothes stay in the dryer until wet clothes need to be dried.
I inquired with one association about installing a laundry in my own unit and told no, it's in violation of their rules and I will be fined for doing so. That includes the mini-euro styles.

The washer & dryer combo in the place I bought was old and I suspected it wouldn't take long before needing replacement. I was right and purchased a large capacity washer & dryer pair manufactured by Samsung.
Going with trends, it was an HE model washer with impeller and not the older style agitator.
Nearly three years later, (knowing what I know now) I would not buy Samsung, HE or one with an impeller.

What I'm experiencing is the spin cycle shakes violently and the machine stops. There are sensors that detect an imbalanced load and magically compensate the rotation to stop the shaking. That ain't happening here...
Sometimes the washer resets and does another fill cycle as it's programmed that way to re-balance the load... that wastes water, electricity and more importantly time. It shouldn't take 3 hours to wash a dozen towels.

I phoned customer support at Samsung and they 'walked me through' the calibration sequence for the spin cycle sensors. Better? yeah, maybe 10% better. I washed shirts, socks and underwear and it only stopped a few times. I redistributed the load each time and continued. The spin cycle with 12 minutes remaining jumps to 25 minutes when you restart it. Bastards...
Next week, I'll call Samsung again. If it requires a technician and a service call... so be it.
very mad

I don't remember this happening with the old style washer where you turn the dial (that clicked) showing all the settings.

The UFO report

I just seen where a report by the government was due out by 6/25. In fact, I have been reading a couple articles about this report. It is theorized that the report will most likely not contain any sort of confirmation about aliens existing. The consensus of these articles conclude that most likely the leaked UFO footage will still not have any conclusive information of their origins.

Back in the day, I have shared my UFO experience on here. Since then, a buddy of mine told me he and a friend had seen the same triangle shaped craft. He even elaborated a little more on it...more than I shared locally here...he said that he could feel a vibration throughout his body. I told him, that is exactly what I felt as well.

Now reading this most recent article, it included some footage of the leaked videos of the UFOs. I was somewhat surprised to see that one of the videos showed a triangle shaped craft.

As I said, it is most likely the upcoming report will not conclude alien life, and with me and my friend not seeing any physical aliens, it would be somewhat foolish to conclude aliens were flying that triangle. However, with my personal experience, it was not only me who had witnessed this event. My ex-girlfriend had also witnessed it, and their was something strange that had happened to us at the end of our experience...even at the beginning of it when I first seen the craft.

When I first seen it, it had appeared to be the full moon. I mean, it looked exactly like a full moon. For a split second I had thought it was the full moon until I had realized that was impossible. That night, it was severely storming out. I rationalized to myself, how could that be the full moon...it was storming and hence cloudy out. As soon as I thought that, the "full moon" had disappeared and then the craft had exposed itself to me. It almost seemed as if it read my mind. In fact, the timing of everything...I would swear it read my mind.

The second weird unexplainable thing that happen. After the craft revealed itself to me, I freaked out and yelled for my girlfriend. She had made it upstairs, next to me by the window, by the time the craft had slowly hovered over our heads about 30 feet in the air and stopping. The next thing we recall is standing face to face to each other in the center of our room. We had no conscious recollection of how we got there and no memory of how that craft left.

So my conclusion is...yes...I cannot say conclusively there were aliens in that triangle-shaped craft, but, there was more than just that craft going on there that night...technologically wise. The vibration in my body I felt, how it was able to seemingly read my mind, and how we unconsciously got positioned face to face in the center of our room.

I hope that report can shed some light on that stuff as well. I suspect it will not and most likely downplay those leaked video footages as best they can.

Will We Ever Get There?

Every time I look at the stars, I wonder if we will ever get there. It seems unlikely. Is our lifespan too short or are we simply snookered by distance?dunno

Alpha Centauri, our closest neighbor outside our own solar system, is almost four and a half light-years away. This means that if we could travel at one tenth of the speed of light - and we cannot even remotely - it would still take us 45 years to get there. That is 90 years for the return trip with no time for any sight seeing. Few of us will outlive the entire journey.grin

If we were to attempt to make the journey with one of the space shuttles, it would take 135,000 years just to get there. However, hitching a ride with one of the Voyagers seems to be a better bet. The one-way trip will only take 75,000 years. Alas, we just don’t live long enough to do it.doh

When we look at our current technology, it seems unlikely that we will get there first and then we don’t even know if Alpha Centauri has any habitable planets. The single planet discovered so far orbiting that star is far too hot to support life as we know it. Life, as we know it, may be much further away.sigh

Therefore, it seems a much safer bet to wait until those little green men arrive here but I not sure if ‘safer’ is the right word. If these beings arrive here, they may not be that well disposed towards us. If they display the same imperialism as our earlier European powers, we’re going to be in for a rough ride. How would you fancy having to perform slave labor on a Drakonian farm? Aliens may even have a taste for long pig… also known as human meat.blues

Then, on the other hand, maybe those on the other side are sitting with the same problems. It may explain the lack of any real evidence regarding ‘visits’ to our planet for all we had so far are rumors and conspiracy theories. One such theory has it that the far side of the moon is infested with aliens and that the Americans had been warned off the moon; that is why they’re no going there any more!rolling on the floor laughing

And I don’t know why everybody just assumes that intelligent extra-terrestrial life has to be humanoid. Maybe when they get here, they will simply proceed with their journey after failing to find intelligent life!giggle

Microchips Implant On Its Way Here

People Lineup to Get Microchips Implanted in their Hands! Mark of Beast is On Its Way Here!

by Power Point Paradise • November 24, 2014 •

By Lisa Haven

Major! People are lining up to get implanted! Wow! We all knew it was coming but did we realize how fast! A man by the name of Martijn Wismeijer has been able to store Bitcoins inside his body through a 12mm glass computer chip implanted in his flesh, but he’s not alone! Others are lining up receiving personalized alarm clocks and keyless doors that they can operate from a chip inside their bodies. Here is the breaking report by Ricky Scaparo…

Also if you haven’t seen this check out the Mark of the Beast Prototype that Motorola rolled out…

“He [The False Prophet] causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.” Revelation 13:16-17

VeriChip (now known as PostiveID) meets all the criteria that could give the Antichrist the ability to ‘mark’ every human being and prevent them from buying or selling anything. VeriChip is a RFID microchip that can be inserted into human flesh. Today it is used to microchip people who have medical conditions and will be used under Obamacare. It is the same technology used to tag animals to help reunited a pet with its owner. In October of 2004 it was cleared by the Food & Drug Administration. According to the VeriChip website RFID solutions are currently in use in over 5,000 installations worldwide including: healthcare, security, government, industrial markets, and more.

The Bible declares anyone receiving this ‘mark of the beast’ will get the Wrath of God..

“If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.” Revelation 14:9-1

According to the Bible anyone who receives the mark will drink the wrath of God and the smoke of their torment will rise up forever and ever!
***
(If you're wondering if someone who has received the mark, then receives Jesus, will be raptured? Yes, God's mercy endures forever! But why wait?! ... for the Lord is sweet, his mercy endureth for ever, and his truth, faithfulness, and kindness to all generations. Psalm 100:1-5; 136:1; 2 Chronicles 7:3)

Nikola Tesla...

This week, I've gone back to watching YouTube videos about the life of Nikola Tesla and the common thread is he gave too much of his talents away... so much that it drained him. He died at the age of 81 after being hit by a taxi. Many years Tesla had been living alone in hotels leaving behind unpaid bills.

As a young man coming to America, Tesla had worked for Thomas Edison. This was a double edged sword as Edison had cheated him of money and inventions. However, Tesla had the chance to grow and expand his experiments in the laboratory environment.
Edison's idea was to power homes by direct current (DC) generators. The problem with direct current was the limitation of traveling long distances. Thick wires and power stations every few miles were needed to conduct this type of electricity.
Tesla didn't agree with Edison and had invented motors and generators that worked with alternating current (AC) so he could run much longer distances with thinner wires.
His use of alternating current was less expensive and was gaining in popularity. He partnered with George Westinghouse to provide AC power distribution.
This was affecting Edison's business to the point where Edison started a smear campaign of fear mongering the dangers of alternating current. In retaliation, he began to use alternating current and horrified spectators when he publicly executed animals.

Anyway, I find it ironic that the most famous electric car in America named Tesla, is powered by batteries that supply (DC) direct current.

Cellphone HELL...

With all the phones, tablets, laptops and computers I go through, I should be used to upgrades/changes by now. Last week, I took delivery on the Samsung S24 Ultra with 1 terabyte of memory. It's their flagship model that boasts a 200 megapixel camera.

Using Samsung Smart Switch app, I backed up the old phone to my computer.
The new phone came with a double end USB-C connector for direct transfer phone to phone which s faster than using Wi-Fi. Smart Switch is resident on both phones but it took a few tries to connect.

Nearly everything transferred and all the the apps and screen settings are identical. Passwords didn't sync and I had to setup Google, Gmail, Samsung, WhatsApp and Signal again. I lost my most cherished app called Gesture Search. Someone else is making a version of Gesture Search that is no better than a first year computer programming homework assignment. Hopefully, they will listen to the user comments and make an update worthy of calling it Gesture Search.

I'm estimating nearly 2 days lost for research to set the phone up where it actually functions to my liking. A handful of calls to T-Mobile support and so many calls to Samsung customer care and technical support I lost track. I had a 'needed to fix' list or the phone goes back to Samsung and I get a refund.
Some features are no longer supported so I have to do a 'work around' to get what I want.
Notifications both visual and sound are nearly there. I would have preferred to see a flashing indicator or flag to let me know there are unread messages or emails.
The phone will give a reminder beep after 3 minutes and briefly vibrate when I pick up the phone. Always on display is the cure, but that eats into battery time.
Most of my text messages are converted using the microphone... Well, they were on my old phone, but the icon wasn't on the top row of the keyboard as expected. A call to Samsung and I was told the microphone is no longer supported. WTF? microphone not supported.
They had me download and install Gboard which is Google's keyboard app. It worked fine and quick, but the top row with numbers (found on the default Samsung keyboard) required a function key and extra keystrokes to achieve the same results... just like my BlackBerry phone 20 years ago!

Not accepting the Samsung Tech Support solution, I reverted back the the Samsung keyboard. An internet search revealed, you can toggle the microphone on and off via a separate menu. It now appears on the lower corner and not along the top row of commands like the previous 4 cellphones did.

Now for the camera that cannot default to low resolution images. I guess Samsung thinks it's beneath the S24 Ultra and forces them to only shoot high-res images.
Images were distorted and out of proportion. I reset the phone settings to default, rebooted the phone and most of the camera aspect issues went away. Photos sent by text messages are large, but the file size is manageable. Probably 2.5 times larger than my old phone.
The phone has a serious problem with images appearing like a fisheye lens. Vertical lines appeared curved, especially noticeable when looking at buildings or geometric objects having straight lines. I downloaded Samsung's Camera Assistant that has a setting to cure that. I'll test it tomorrow when I'm out on appointments.

While my experience and product review with this phone has been mostly negative, the speed of functions and menus is amazingly fast. It does automatic translation when texting. A very powerful feature.
I'm holding the screen resolution at it's lowest setting of HD+ 1560 x 720. maybe later I'll experiment with the QHD+ 3120 x 1440.
All the drawbacks to using anything more than the basic settings is reduced battery time. I'll have to test it with lots of use, calls, photos, GPS and see if I need to activate battery saver.
(note to self: phone doesn't come close to rated battery life)

The Internet

Who invented it?
Who owns it?
How does it work? (what makes it possible)

I was talking with a gentleman the other night. Out of nowhere he starts talking about today's society. He says in his opinion, we were introduced to too much technology, too soon.

What do you think?

Get the APP...

The list of companies who want you download their app keeps growing. Application Software or in the case of Mobile Apps, is software designed to run on smartphones.
The iPhone store has millions of apps designed to run on Apple phones and tablet devices.

All the fast food restaurants are switching to touch screen kiosks where you place your order without having to speak to someone. Payment is arranged through the app to your bank account. If you pat inside, you would insert your chip debit card to complete the transaction.

You can order from/through the MacDonalds app, specify the time you want to pick it up. Park in the assigned spot for app orders and they will carry your meal to your car.

Other things apps do is inform you whenever they have special sales and keep you in their customer network.

I didn't download the app for Office Depot but their rewards program has an email address that I rarely use. When I went checking (usually once a month) it was filled messages, often a few per day when they had holiday sales.

If they are that (insert correct word) on email, they could do the same with your app that gives them phone numbers, personal information too. Reading some stories about security, bad apps are out there. Some scammers have copied the look of legitimate apps in an attempt to steal the users information.

One thing for sure is to only download your apps from a reputable source (Google Play Store or the Apple Store) and avoid links form unknown sources. It's not perfect, but apps on Google or Apple have been tested.

Thanks for reading my blog... and go install the app! laugh
