RE: howard marks: mr nice

I've read all of his books and I actually went to see him speak 2 weeks ago - he's a wonderful author and an even better speaker. So frank and funny - if you love the books, do make it a priority to go and see him speak - one of the best evenings I've ever spent!

RE: stieg larsson: The girl with the dragon tatoo series

I don't usually read fiction but this book was recommended by friends. I'm usually a slow reader and have never read a fiction book this long. I went through this book very quickly; I could barely put it down...addictive. I've started the second book but am afraid to get into it because i won't get anything else done if I really get into it and if it is as good as the first one.

RE: Wm. Paul Young: The Shack

I read this book a couple of years ago, found it so interesting. I gave it to others. Unfortunately, they didn't seem to relate the way I did. I recommend it to everyone.

RE: stieg larsson: The girl with the dragon tatoo series

This is a slow starter. Stick with it and you won't be dissappointed. I've also read the second and enjoyed it even more!

Byron Katie: A Thousand Names for Joy

I've put it under "health, mind and body" because I prefer those words to "spiritual" .. it's mental, and it's healthy!

RE: Henri Charriere: Papillon

A great book, one of my favorites. Unfortunately after some recent research on the internet it appears that it is not really a true story, still, it is an excellent read.

RE: Bill Watterson: The Authoritative Calvin and Hobbes

Ok, I know this is a dating site but despite being male, I must tilt my trilby, nod and smile in acknowledgement and respect for any Calvin and Hobbes fan.. Funny, extremely intelligent, philosophical and resolved unquestionably every time with compassion, warmth and love... Unlike most academics of such grandieur, Watterson does not find it necessary to be cold and cynical. We need people for that also, but nearly all academics take that slice and it's nice to see one that has warmth in his heart... He is not just a "Comic strip guy" But a true thinker and artist.. and despite massive offers for pay-outs and commercial oppertunities for toys, films, a cartoon series and such-like, he has stayed true to his creation (calvin), like his own child and allowed the reader to continue putting his own voice to the characters and not bastardised the formula with a given universal voice of some up-coming famed youth-star.. It's been a while... Are there any new works available...?? J.b.

once you start with a Karen Marie Moning Book it is hard to put them down. This series was entertaining. with or without red wine. If you would like to really hear something. Listen to this book in your Cd while on a trip. The guy who does the reading is great.

RE: Mitch Albom: Tuesdays with Morrie

I loved this book, and read 2 times. I am in the process of reading it for more times to come. Mitch is a brilliant author, he is the type of writer who inspire others to think and do what matters in life. He has also written another book with the title Have a little faith, which I also enjoyed.

RE: Stephnie MEYER: The Twilight saga

This vampire series is a quick fun read... its not necessarily "great literature" but its well written and extremely entertaining. Its targeted to teenage girls but certainly caught my attention. I guess it triggers that whimsical romantic in anyone. I'm not a fan of the films, but at least it gave this little series the attention it deserves. If you haven't read them... do it now!
