iamamm: hi vinny

just looked in.......saw your thread
here's my 2 cents worth .......

you get nothing without trying !!

but a comment has already been made about regulars being protective of ' their own EU forums ' ?

why is that ?.......
i thought this was an open site to all newcomers........
not a PRIVATE PARTY !!

that does piss me off

jeezzzz......think about it
( well maybe it holds your answer, and i need say nowt more ? )

but wouldnt you feel just a little disappointed ...
if you fancied a pint ( no stereotypes )
and you walked into a public bar..........

and everyone turned their backs to you
and got in a ' regular group huggie '

sorry vin......you are as welcome here as ANYONE ELSE !!

it's just the regulars do seem to monopolise
and in 3 months i have been here, it is fun
but there are one or two people
for reasons best known to themselves......
( frankly, i dont give a damn , my dear ! )

who still havent even had the courtesy to reply
and i think studiously ( defensively, insecurely actually !! )
to a direct quote / comment / reply to them..

thats a pity !
but the rest are nice people
some really sincere and genuine

keep trying mate, it doesn't take long to work out who they are !
( thats the good uns's and the not so good un's )

good luck

Ah.

I see.

Have you been made to feel unwelcome, Andy?

The regulars 'monopolise' the forums? Should the regulars not post any longer, to make way for other members? Is this what you would prefer?

Isn't there any longer a right to choose who we as members respond to?

I am not responded to sometimes, but I don't feel that people should respond to me. I don't flatter myself with expecting people to respond to me. If they do, they do, if they don't then they don't. It never troubles me.

Also, as a note, what about people who have to run and do not have the time to respond directly? Should we announce that we do not have time to respond and we will later?

And why cannot people be protective over their little space? Doesn't mean that people are not welcome.

And yes, Vinny, you and all people are welcome, it is a public forum and belongs to CS. We have the priviledge to post, all of us.

I do too Jan. Try to pespond.

Something I have failed miserably in today, in my Sardinia thread. Ven has been busy in there though.

Reading Andy's post, he seems to think that some of the regulars monopolise the forums here so it is hard to know what to do for the best.

Vinny is not a 'newbie' I never describe people as newbies. I hate that term, like I would not describe myself as an oldie. We are all members.

I think you will find Andy, that as in the past, there have been less than a handful who have kept this place going, that many people are protective of the people in here.

If you find my phrase bad, then that is up to you. I cannot own your feelings.

I think in this thread, opened by Vinny, he was treated with care, courtesy and respect by all people who responded.

You have not responsded directly to my questions, therefore I am assuming you neither have the time or the inclination. I do not see that as rude at all, or that I am being ignored, I see that as your perogative.

Did Vinny understand? Read the whole thread and look for yourself, if you have the time, if you don't then you need to ask him. Not me.

vinny1967: I have been on the site 6/7 months now and I would just like to ask people in the EU Forums are the happy with the EU forums ?

From my experience no new people actually seem to join in.....

I have posted occassionally and a lot of the posts seem to be ignored...............which is no biggie really for me.........I could care less truthfully........

But do people feel afraid to join in because it seems to be the same few people.........

Do the regulars want more people to join in......

Jus wondering........

Vinny, I tried joining the EU forums a few months back, even starting a thread if anyone would mind if a Yankee joined their forums. I was basically ignored except for one rude man. Haven't been back since, until today.

I posted a few months ago, because I found the EU forums more intellectual and interesting than the International forums, but I felt I was not really welcome.

OWN THE EU FORUMS!!??....say what?....I thought we owned both Forums.....

....don't we??....confused

...I hope you're joking SV...

SensualVixen: I totally agree, and get the same feeling of the elitism....
To be honest I get the feeling some of you think you own the EU forums which I don't perceive in the International forum section.

No, I am not joking. That is how I perceived the EU forums when I first entered and tried joining in.
Maybe it has changed since then, I truly hope so.

Could this be the perception of others entering? Maybe that is why you don't have many "newbies" joining in the threads and posting.

SensualVixen: I did state that I find most of the EU threads more interesting and intelligent. Was I incorrect?

hi SV .. good to meet you ..wave

I too think that the threads here are interesting a lot of the time and people get to know each other .. I agree with you ..

but you also seem to be saying .. correct me if I'm wrong .. that certain things happen here that shouldn't and some things don't happen that should ...is that correct? if so, what specific things do you have in mind .. you also state (I think...again soz if i'm wrong) that there is an elitist feeling to the place .. I don't notice that personally .. what form does it take?

No, I am NOT stating certain things happen that should or should not. Yes, I am stating that there is an elitist aire about from some, whether they realize it or not. It doesn't mean I dislike those people, just means that it may be making some others feel uneasy about posting or starting threads.
Months ago it did make me feel as such, but I am back in full force after the invite in the international forums by one of "your" gracious members.
