In my first week here I read that only about 1% of long distant relationships work. Obviously, that's not very encouraging. If you've had a successful LDR or know of those who have would you mind sharing them??

Thanks..

However nice it feels chatting, phoning, texting, or writing to somebody who is far away.....

...it is only when one meets face to face that you really know if the chemistry is right.....

I did a few years ago. Didn't work out because of other circumstances not because it was an LDR. We both loved each other dearly and I moved cross country to be with him.

Just like any other relationship, I think they are what you are both willing to put into them.

If you both can afford the time to see each other often, or if talking on here or the phone is enough, then I think it can work.. but you have to meet in person definitely sooner than later!

I don't think they are easy by any stretch of the imagination, but damn, if two people meet on here and sparks fly... wouldn't you think it might be worth it to give it a shot?

What do I know though?

Very well put Wildflower. You get from a relationship what you are willing to put into it. Do not get involved with someone that is many miles away unless you only want it for friendship or one or both are willing to travel the distance.

Firstly what do you consider long distance? for some people thats 250 miles?

Some have met here, been able to meet and gone on to get married.

Then there is the question that one would have to relocate, which is another issue, work, family, financial considerations. Even arranging to met can be governed by financial restraints wine

That's my thinking too but it doesnt seem to line up with thoses who have been around for awhile. That's why I asked for examples of those that have actually worked. So far I think we only have one..
