women should tell the truth all the time ...men have a little more leeway due to our extra libido .. this isn't gender specific .. I don't see gender but people ..

People strive on profiles to come across as honest, attractive and appealing, because we are on a dating site.
And we would not like to be described as being dishonest.
It is often the case with people meeting from these places, people are so desperate to appear honest, none game playing and open minded. But then when reality hits, we all really do fart!
She told a fib, if perfectdream is going to consider a relationship with her, and he likes her, he could say 'never mind darling' give her a hug and they can run off into the sunset together.
If he cannot bear the fact that she lied then he can let it go.
She fibbed and got caught out, not the end of the world. Hell my husband told me for three years he was at work when he was in bed with another woman. I got over it eventually.
I know somewhere in here, there will be 'if she lied about this, what else has she lied about?'

Yes we do, and we put are good points on our profiles and not our bad. But an out and out lie is not the same as just trying to highlight our good points.

I would say don't look too much into it! I would not feel too concerned about a person telling a fib about their age, women often lie about their age.

Many things in this life are not acceptable, which doesn’t mean that they don’t happen.
If you “reduce” your age by a decade in a profile, it’s better that you also look 10 years younger in the real life, just in case...
Or if you can afford to be caught, i.e. you can "wear" an accusation in lying with dignity. Which isn’t that easy as liars usually make you feel pity for them.
Personally I’m often too lazy to lie: I just can’t stand the thought that I have to remember what I've said and to whom.

Touché LOL really to give a serious answer to this thread .. I wouldn't find it at all acceptable .. I would lose all trust in her.
I think that if everybody is lying about the details on their profile, the point of spending time here is highly questionable ..
I know some people are lying here for sure .. and that at least one person has multiple profiles on this site .. and personally I find that deceptive and bordering on insulting .. a form of fooling people for fun ...but it isn't fun to joke with people in that way, in my opinion .. firstly, cos you are trying to say you are so clever cos you can deceive everyone .. well, you are wrong cos you are not deceiving everyone and it isn't clever ... and secondly .. cos people are here for a purpose and like it or not you are in a way playing with their emotions .. jmho

Well guiri, have you never told a fib in your life? So, regardless of what else there may be in the relationship, you would chuck it all away because she lied about her age?
I see so many profiles that state that they are looking for people aged 18-99. Now somehow, I don't think that is the case.
Then there is FM, our lovely FM, who states he is 72 and has been reducing his age by a year each day, which we have made a joke of. Yet I would trust him. If only from what I have seen him writing on here... and the personal emails I have had from him, I would not treat him as a dishonest person because he had not posted his age.
How do you know some people are lying? I know some people have lied about other people, I don't claim to be honest, honest people do not go around saying they are honest, they just are.
The woman could have made a typing error, hardly the crime of the century lying about some numbers, how many times do we hear about age does not matter?
Lies and deceit are major deals when in relationships, I agree and I would not entertain anything, but I don't go off a few words in a profile.
