Here is my story - I found a very interesting woman here in CS, a lot of common interests etc kiss , but later I accidently found out that in real life she is not 38 years old as it was said in her profile, but some 7 years older. scold
What would be your reaction in such a situation? Is this acceptable? doh

I am not saying that everything in the profile has to be 100% true, people may want to keep their privacy and to conceal the identity, but in this case I feel that it is slightly too far from the truth. laugh

Hello there...

Hum.

I would say don't look too much into it! I would not feel too concerned about a person telling a fib about their age, women often lie about their age.

How did you accidentally find out? You don't have to share at all, if you don't want to.

It's a whopper yes, but if she had said to you, 'look I am 45, I fibbed on my profile' How would you feel? If all the other bits are good then it really is not much of a problem. I see that as telling my husband once that a pair of shoes cost my £40 when they were really £100...

dragonfly88: yes... we've all done that!

Exactly DF.

People strive on profiles to come across as honest, attractive and appealing, because we are on a dating site.

And we would not like to be described as being dishonest.

It is often the case with people meeting from these places, people are so desperate to appear honest, none game playing and open minded. But then when reality hits, we all really do fart!

She told a fib, if perfectdream is going to consider a relationship with her, and he likes her, he could say 'never mind darling' give her a hug and they can run off into the sunset together.

If he cannot bear the fact that she lied then he can let it go.

She fibbed and got caught out, not the end of the world. Hell my husband told me for three years he was at work when he was in bed with another woman. I got over it eventually.

I know somewhere in here, there will be 'if she lied about this, what else has she lied about?'

Then if she is a compulsive liar, she will cook her own goose.

No sommer, i actually mean it. I feel the world should've changed enough for such petty lies. Both women and men should be more aware and more frank, mainly with themselves. And my girlfriends have averaged much more than a year older than me till now.

No I dont think it is acceptable to lie about your age or anything else or to have photos that are ten years old. I can understand that sometimes people are reticent about certain information till they know the person somewhat ..they may want to retain their privacy ...but lying no not justified.

Totally unacceptable. If someone is here to find a partner for real, then why lie at all? It's ludicrous. I don't get the "it's quite normal to lie about things" thing. I'd ditch the person at once. barf

Easy easy! Actually I got my thoughts a bit mixed up here. No lying about age and stupid things like that is a definite no no IMO. However, if there are things in your past that you've done that you're embarrassed about... or maybe something like having entertained thoughts about someone else while you were starting to relate to another person and then coming out with it after not too much time has passed... now that might be forgiven. I'm really thinking of a case when someone ditched me on grounds of not wanting to double date. I gave them a chance to explain and allow me back in. So let's just say there are many case scenarios... some worse than others. ok?

I didn't mean being rigid in the case of downright lies, I meant rigid in cases that are not so clear cut... am I making sense now?

I did think you were kinda contradicting yourself in the previous post.

Now you have explained it, I understand!
