You are quite correct, my friend. There are many lonely people that, for a number of reasons, are isolated and don't get out much.

I always attempt to engage a stranger in conversation, if only to pass the time of day, particularly the elderly. It may be the only inter-action with another person they get that day? I usually get at least a smile.....

LoveableOne: When I first started using internet dating sites, I had this same feeling, and it hasn't gone away, only gotten stronger. There seem to be hundreds of dating sites, and millions of people who are alone looking for someone. Of course, I realize now there are quite a few people who are scammers or who are married and looking to cheat. There are people who are just here to chat and are honest about that, not looking for a relationship. And there are a lot of people who use a dating site as only one avenue in finding a mate or a date. Still, that leaves multitudes who are lonely and seeking love. And it is sad. It is very sad. It has a lot to do with modern life...so much divorce, so many people who are not connecting socially but staying in with their television and computer, etc. It's a sad state of affairs, but you and I are part of it too!! Though I do believe I will not find the one I'm seeking online, and so I am also looking in the real world, I'm still here--mostly for the forums though. I suppose there's always the chance I'll meet him online, but I highly doubt it.
