kitty01: The way my legs move I feel like I should be in my 80's. I have had all kinds of tests done and they still say it is just artritis.

Kitty the only "cure" for what you have is hip replacement. It can be done by local anaesthetic these days and you are back on your feet in 24 hours. There is nothing else to be done for it.

The hip replacement will leave you pain free with full mobility for at least 10 years.

I know what it is like living in constant pain. It does wear you down and take the joy out of life. Anyone not living that kind of life has no clue what it does to a person.

With arthritis, people often become resistant to the painkillers, and the pain is severe. In my hands it is similar to someone having smashed all my fingers with a hammer, (Osteo not rheumatoid). (The comparison is a real one, because in my youth I have often missed a nail and got my fingers instead!).

Arthritis is often coupled with fybromyalgia too, which is rheumatics of the muscles, coupled with soul-destroying fatique.

Anyone telling you it is about attitude and being as young as you feel, and to buck yourself up, would do well to live with what you have, even for a day..... They'd be singing a different tune then.scold

In response to: I will be 59 this year and I am feeling like I am getting over the hill now. My legs do not work like I would want them too and cannot do what I used to love to do.

Anyone else feel like they are over the hill now?

marigoldwoman2: there is a saying

"we get old because we stop doing things..
we don't stop doing things because we get old"
Not true. YOur body simply wont allow you to do things that you could do when younger. Reflexes, muscle tone, bone deterioration . I am 62 will be 63 in December. I still play tennis during the outdoor season aoubt 4 to 5 times a week. However, it is very difficult to keep up with players in their 30's and 40's. Reflexes a bit slower. a step or two slower etc. etc. My parents are in their 80's and have trouble walking , bending etc. The older you get the more difficult it is to do things you take for granted when younger. The body simply starts to wear out.Bruce

I agree, I have arthritis of the spine with bone spurs. there are things I can do like exercise to build up neck and back muscles, to prevent some very painfull moments.. However I still hurt my back 3 weeks ago while playing tennis. Just now recovering. I had trouble getting out of bed and putting on clothes without some extreme pain. Anyway, I take care of my self and still If not carefull can have a lot of pain. Has to do with getting older and genetics. Bruce
