guys

i am a medium-high level tech geek so i dont need long advice -thanks

i am just curious if anyone else is running a realtime virus program and is getting alerts while cruising CS?
yesterday and today when i click to a new page here-
(not every time-)avast is sounding the alert and saying trojan found.

i surf all day all over the net- this is the only place its happening

just wondering if we need to alert admin
dunno

in all the years here i have never ever had this or any similar experience from CS

Last month I picked one up from CS and had to have my disk swipe clean and had everything reloaded. Lost a bunch of 'stuff'. So yes it happens from here.

Nope, but then I am using Firefox, instead of Internet Exploder!
Not using Realtime AV,but sweep with Malwarebyte's Antimalware at least weekly.
Sweep for Rootkits now and then.
Using AVG protection for Websites.

Sweep with SuperAntispyware now and then.

Also having NoScript partially activated!

Getting so jealous when People catch all sorts of Malware!

Install a good firewall. The one that comes with windows is not great. Zone Alarm free would be a good bet. While it will not remove malware it helps to keep it out by limiting traffic to allowed programs and ports. Think of it like the man working the door at a night club. "Beat it bud, yer name ain't on the list."

Windows Firewall is quite sufficient!
Haven't used anything else in 3 years!

Malware enters through Allowed Ports.

Some Scripts might cause False Positives with some AV-Programs.
If you get one,do a fast Scan,to be sure nothing installed itself.

Test your firewall:

I'm as close to invisible as possible using Kerio Firewall.

Malware enters through many ports. Often standard ones yes but, that is why we also use a firewall that compares a digital signature of a file to be sure that myfile.exe that we allowed to access the internet last month is the same file instead of malware with the same name that replaced it last night.

Malwarebytes is a great program but it does not catch everything and if you are running the free version it gives you no active protection. Even if you have to add RAM to support it it is a good idea to have active anti-virus and anti-spy running all of the time. Avira Free and Avast Free are fine as is AVG Free if your computer has enough power to run the bloated program it is now. Spybot Search and Destroy is a good anti-spyware with a blocking feature that will save you plenty of headaches if you update and immunize every week.

I do as well. The only time I have had any problems on here was when I was using the "IM". I just turned it off and started telling everybody to email me. It got on my nerves anyway.

Has anybody had any problems while using the Norton 360 and Firefox? I'm not a computer geek and have so much to learn. I was just wondering if the OP or anybody else had an opinion on this particular type of security for their computer.
