woodzchick: Has anybody had any problems while using the Norton 360 and Firefox? I'm not a computer geek and have so much to learn. I was just wondering if the OP or anybody else had an opinion on this particular type of security for their computer.
Norton is OK for an anti-virus but the platform is bloated and prone to runaway processes that will slow down your computer to a crawl. It's better than McAfee though.
Avast just blocked a trojan from google.analytics.com. CS seems to be in the clear but not Google Ads.
I use Kaspersky Internet Security Services which not only has an excellent firewall but also offers a sand box IE users can run IE in so nothing can change your system files. Mr Kaspersky put together the first ever anti-virus program and i only pay $38 per year now so I am happy with the program, its comprehensive protection which i think is worthwhile investing in.
woodzchick congratulations in having your first ride in the mountains. Myself driving in the mountains here the other day managed to take photos of the first wild horses i've actually seen roaming free, was pleased to. Big well done with development of your property

I Robplum, I am getting some notices of trojans. I also use Kaspersky. It looks like my system has an on-going scan. I think it is blocking them. Is there anything I need to do other than run a scan? Any help would be appreciated.
Mindful, I'm glad you started this thread. I have had two attempts of invasions from viruses within the last hour that I have been on here. It's never been this bad before.
I usually only had problems with the IM, but tonight I am getting messages from attempted invasions from just being on the site.

oh hey woodz
who? lil ol me?
i use 'bloated' programs
little do they no i can remove or write code
anyway i have abandoned norton many years ago for a couple of reasons- but i do know people use it and are confident about it.
dont learn just do a teeny bit of basic maintenance once a month and keep a coin jar for a repairman once a year-
if i could go back to that life i would but after almost 18 years... i am obsessive about tinkering and tweaking systems

thats why i started it exactly!
my system is sensitive i just wanted to be sure its CS and not anything i got a week ago from somewhere else before doing my chicken little imitation
and katt i know its not cs but google but not everyone understands such specifics
if i start a thread like this its in hopes of just gathering info or putting out an alert to less experienced users in a language we can ALL understand.
i just say this so you dont feel compelled to correct me saying its CS or dissect and explain the details.

i am a medium-high level tech geek so i dont need long advice -thanks
i am just curious if anyone else is running a realtime virus program and is getting alerts while cruising CS? yesterday and today when i click to a new page here- (not every time-)avast is sounding the alert and saying trojan found.
i surf all day all over the net- this is the only place its happening
just wondering if we need to alert admin
in all the years here i have never ever had this or any similar experience from CS
Have you been going to eveyone's links they post in here ?

Kaspersky firewall monitors all open ports, alot of trojansget into computer through the open ports. What Kaspersky is showing you with the little box that popes up telling you it has blocked an attempted intrusion means its blocked the trojans access. You can atually configure Kaspersky not to alert you about. You don't need to worry if it that, small box that popes up on taskbar is only letting you know the attack occurred and its sorted it. When you go online, your computer open hundreds of ports, your likely only using one or two of them and its those open ports outsiders are attempting to gain access through, don't worry Kaspersky got that covered mindfful

My warning thing that popped up did give some kind of information about google.

off and on for a long time google's adds have been used by tossers to infect computers. The notice you are likely getting i think probably is alerting you that google add is trying to run script as your browser is likely set to detect that. I think eventually google will detect the infection and remove that add, not sure CS are able to do anything other than report it to google
