How smart do your partner have to be in order for you to get involved with them?

Can you get seriously involved with someone if they are a lot dumber than you are?

Do they have to be on or near your intelligence level?

Like most people, I believe it's best for your insignificant other to be about or on the same intelligence level as you.

The relationship will probably work best if you all have a understanding of most conversations.

Agree or disagree?

I don't feel that one must find a partner who is necessarily on the same 'intelligence level' (which is a very, sincerely vague term, really) so long as they have something that you find attractive- And I'm not just talking about long legs and deep eyes.

Sometimes it's just an outlook on life. Sometimes it might be inquisitive nature, or for that matter, simplicity, that is attractive.

Sometimes, it can just be compassion that does it for a person.

Individual results may vary, of course.

if he was all that smart ida never caught him DUHdoh

grin

no i think i have stopped measuring in these ways

i have noticed since the beginning of this relationship that i am different - i have noticed all along that he is very smart but very different in his ways and i admire some of his methods and am happy to be partnered with them and have access to his advice and hope to be more like him as time goes on

i think he would say the exact same thing about me

and besides he already knows i think im smarter than everyone else so he must be pretty smart to see past that and like me anywayyay

I agree. I feel that we have to be able to converse on many levels. I have dated men who couldn't keep up and I quickly got bored. yawn

Sometimes I don't want to think, I just want to be. Sometimes I like to go on feelings alone. If I am feeling slightly wild, then I will dress funky, have a little too much to drink, and just do what I want. Other times, I think what is the proper response! Oh, la de da! pssst. I find people with too much education...talk too much, they seem (they think they know everything) to know a little about everything and expert in nothing.
I am average, I like an average Joe, but also a little bit sophisticated. My field of work is analytical. Yep, gotta use that little ole brain of mine. BORING!!! Do I understand some of the conversations that go on, on CS. Sometimes not, couldn't care. Sometimes do understand perfectly well, but still find it BORING! We all don't think the same way...thank god. Would I consider someone less intelligent than I, or more intelligent than I, sure why not? Doesn't mean it has to be perfect. Varity "spice of life".

"Insignificant other"?? Who would care, it is the 'significant other' that I'd care about! Who wants 'an insignificant' anyone...
