Had a discussion today at work about the last love letter to the love ones just in case you suddenly leave this world. I never considered it before but I was so surprised how many people actually have one secretly stashed away with their Will.

Out of curiosity, has anybody done one on here?

wave No, but what a lovely idea daydream

Coincidence.. I was at the post office today and noticed the will kits on the counter (not sure what the $19.95 gets you, besides some info and forms to fill out confused )

What a nice thing to leave behind for your family. I think it's a great idea .. might just do that wine

No I haven't but interesting as when I went overseas on my own, people honestly didnt think I was coming back or would make it back as I have no proper agenda, just travelling to all different countries.

So I did have to consider if I didnt make it back and actually redid my will and other effects, in case the worse happened so my boys would be taken care of etc.

And actually did say goodbye to everyone who I cared about and we did talk of the incase I didnt come back.

There are situations in life where you do have to consider what might happen and what your wishes etc are.

My closest alreay know what I would want to happen. wine

This morning a thought came to me… it doesn’t happen very often, well not in the morning anyway.laugh

Our feelings change from day to day, year to year. So I’m only guessing here if the last love letter would have to be updated occasionally.

Another point.

this last love letter can it be potentially dangerous?
confused

Doesn't this reflect on your outlook on life and death.

If each day was lived as your last then would you have thoughts like this. Wouldn't everyone that cared for you, know how you felt already.

I would of thought with a close knit unit a love letter would be superflous and over the top at a reading of the will. I would place this sort of thing in the realms of those trying to reach out to loved ones they have let drift away.

In a time of pain and loss. Do we need that extra nail to help us still living, remember the one we lost. Wouldn't this last outreaching only endeavour to let the loved ones left behind, to remember how poorly they treated the lost loved one, and all the things they could of done better to make that lost loved ones life better. Do they need that extra reason to bring up all this guilt.

But then what do i know. Except I've seen some very upset Teenagers on those podiums. trying to choke out those memories of love for a parent lost. Do they need to go through it again at a reading of the will.

Friends who are terminal have made up boxes for their children. Its a collection of memories and wishes for their childrens future ... little momentos.

I guess that when your children are very young, and you wont be able to be there for those B I G days, like graduations, weddings, 21st birthdays... it becomes important that you are able to share your blessings for the future, your hopes for your children, your love.

Those I know who've done it, ask that it be given to the person, and that when the person is ready they can open it. Mine is a journal, it talks about alot of things, has poems, little drawings, doodles, prayers, photos... and when the mood takes me I add to it.

My sister in law died when her son was 10months old.. He's 11 years old now, and I know that a note from her would be something that would mean the world to him now ...

Just looking back and I came across this post and thinking about this I do not think I could do it as it would upset me and the relation I would write it to.

Another thing the way relationships are in this day and age it would be very dicey leaving it to your partner at this space in time... as it seems relationships are on a convayer belt and there is a good chance that! particuler package would be well on its way to another destination.

Yes I am feeling a bit pessamistic for no good reason. Its just the damn world we live in. frustrated confused dunno

The letters/personal momentoes is your choice I guess, but one thing I do know from recent experience is if you have any kind of money, business, property, shares, super etc . MAKE A WILL!!

If you die intestate it only makes the solicitors happy and your stuff might not go to who you want it to go to.

On this very sombre note - I have thought about what kind of farewell/funeral I would like if something unexpected happened to me - not planning on going anywhere in the immedidate future. wave

I do know of a lady recently who knew she was on the way out and left instructions for what she wanted and didn't want for her funeral??

I've thought about it but haven't put it down on paper yet. angel

Yes it is going very well with Teach, its just that I want to sell this damn place and move to the Coast. So many memories the ghosts of my horses are still here with me.Thank goodness for my dogs.

Went to Batemans Bay on the weekend with Ron.... its great at Narooma
and the Jervis Bay area ....so clean and bright but could not live with houses all around me so will have to get at least an acre of land.Which can be found! but cant do anything yet.

I know I am a pom but cannot put up with the cold weather here in winter.

Thanks for asking Toff I do hope you going well with your search for a wonderful guy.hug hug teddybear

Am happy to hear all is going well - 'cept the house sale...change around a few photos or ornaments in the house - I have a bizarre belief in changing the 'energy' around your house and little things like that can help. Just an idea from one crazy lady!

Narooma is lovely - have only visited Jervis Bay once and did not get to see it properly. And finding a large block - yep, easy. Good luck to you too.

Have a date tonight (the 3rd official one) - movies - see how it goes .... teddybear

or those who know me from a past life (identity) My plan is to do a video for Emmy. Just so she has a reference for when she is remembering, she will have visuals. I plan to tell her the story of the year she spent like Hiedi living with "The Grandfather". I will make one for all the other grandkids too
