SoldierByte: Unlike some... I am not a teacher, helper, educator, or the overseer to "babysit" ANY one.. Trouble..?? Nope..!! It is neither my place or job to try and decipher the meanings of what "others" try to convey.. I'm just a member here.. playing, chatting, and voicing MY opinions.. SOME understand.. SOME do not... I neither care or am concerned.. I assist when asked.. and am only able to give what I have/know.. Were I perfect.... The FIRST place I would not be... is HERE..............!!!!! ---SoldierByte---
I seem to be missing something here ...why are you here ...to find a spouse...for the forums ....for the banter... for the arguements ..for advice...or other....
this is where we differ in opinions I feel it is everyone "job" to try to understand others ..not only here but in life as well.
I believe this is what is wrong in this world alot of the times everyone thinks it is not thier job to try to understand others .....I think that is sad.....but ok...
gabrielle95: Thanks, Liebe. Yes, HE is here now and we have great fun together.
Yeeeyyy! I'm happy for you What are you doing here then?! Woman, get going! Go have fun! We'll miss you, but I am sure you will have a lot to tell us later. Have a blast!
Liebe2: Oh, I am sorry, I guess I should leave this thread alone until people grow some sense of humour. I don't know what happened to you, but I hope you get well soon
What are you talking about I was being funny I though......but this is what I meant about my op as not understanding how to take a post.....I was really trying to be humorous in my post to you....yet you seem to have taken it wrong ..

Hi Dave, Had such an instance only recently.....
Made one of my normal stupid/silly comments to a poster who was obviously upset, in an attempt to lighten the mood...... also sent a flower to try and cheer them up.
Got a rather sharp/curt e-mail back.
It did make me think that maybe I should have just kept my trap shut............. Maybe I am just too full of myself, as was suggested, but I prefer to think of it as confidence !
All I was trying to do was help !
What will I do in the future ? ........... stay away from the forums.
rizlared: I am an English Professor, and so I have a natural love for the English language, but as a foreign teacher I fully understand the difficulties that non English speakers can have when posting. That said, because I take pride in my language and because I tend to write exactly what I would speak face to face, I often get accused of being pompous or snobbish, water off a ducks back to me, but I have noticed that these comments usually come from those who , lets say, appear, to be less well educated. I don't believe I am confrontational, however, I will have my say when I see something that to my mind is wrong, I realise that my opinion is just that, MY opinion and that others will disagree, but enjoy a debate, debates though, should end up either by changing someone's original belief or agreeing to disagree, on CS, however, they seem to end up getting deleted and posters sent to Jail
exactly...and I was only wishing to see if we can as a group find a way to lessen this result.....
davpk10: This is a tricky thing I think here. How often are we misunderstood in our posts? Seems to happen a lot and an arguement ensues. I do not beleive we intend for an arguement to start ,but we have all found ourselves in this I think.
I find it hard to think that we as a group want to argue (well maybe one or two)Now I am not talking about a good old heated debate..but a real arguement.
I think that some mid-eastern and eastern posters are misunderstood the most and I can understand this happening....But with the western cultures you would think it would be less.
Is it that cultures are just differant so we take posts differantly?....Do we not read the post the same way? ...Does the poster not express themselves well? (I feel this is my case alot) and does the reader of a post only take out of it as they wish to and not really try to think what it is the poster is saying and then post before really understanding the other poster?
Now the big questions.
As a group what can we do to lessen this from happening?
Do we as a group want to?
I am genuinely interested it all that wish to express how they feel.
Forum Lack of Communication comes down to several things, in my opinion:
1. Language Difficulty: When English is not someone's first language;
2. Differences in Culture and therefore Senses of Humor: There is no doubt that different cultures have varying senses of humor, and what is funny to one does not translate well to another;
3. Intent to Understand: Some posters I believe DELIBERATELY misunderstand a post, in order to start a conflict. Have seen it happen here, many times.
Of the above, I think that No.3 is the hardest to get around. Language, grammer and even a difference in sense of humour can be got around, either by Googling a word or phrase, or asking the person to explain more fully what they mean. However, if someone is of the DELIBERATE INTENT to pick at someone, there is nothing much anyone else can do.

I agree ...so what do we do to lessen this ... and do we in fact want to?....thanks for your post as well...

TOLERANCE. Tolerance is the only way to get over language and/or grammer barriers. To understand that this person's first language is not English, and that they are making a huge effort to speak it correctly here on the forums.
And to remember that most of us Native English Speakers cannot speak a word of any other language, or at least not well enough to post in it, so to give RESPECT to those who do try..

You could confine yourself to posting in the word games!!
davpk10: Thanks for your post firstly....It took me a bit to understand what you were saying ...but I believe I got it ....and I think you have agreed with me on the most part.....and not to worry there is not anyone here that can make a "flake " out of me....I was only trying to maybe make the forums a little better and to maybe get an insite on how people see things....it seems some just simply like to argue and fight and insult no matter how hard you try to get along with them....and I am truely sad for them to think they have to go though the rest of thier life mad all the time...even if they think they are not...
Cool. I don't dilly dally in threads that become too negative. When I joined CS it was a totally leisure activity, for fun and perhaps to meet, at least electronically, some nice genuine folks. If a person isn't nice, I'm so outa here. If they're not genuine, I'm so outa here. No time to waste. So, does that mean everything should be about tea and crumpets? Well, no. Of course not. But no need to waller in quicksand, either. I'm into fun stuff. Happy stuff. Sunny stuff. Call me naive--s'allright. Life is just too short to get too bummed. Agree?

To Englishman's post: As far as one can "like" a person they have never actually met, you struck me as being one of the best guy friends I could have on a club of this nature. Your latest content that I replied to was, as I stated, confusing. I am not sure whether to communicate with you again or not. Not trying to be critical, but it would seem that at least one other person is bewildered by your unusually off-kilter style lately. Confusing. And you're such a endearing guy. I liked you so well. I understand humor, but I do not understand what you did. It did not feel good. here's to you, anyway. take care
Boban1: Is there something we all should know about .... not that it is my busyness ....but it looks like a insult to me
and again you are correct.. it is NONE of your "busyness".. If it "quacks like a duck", walks like a duck, and looks like a duck.. probability IS: ... it IS a duck..!!! It is plain ENGLISH.... ---SoldierByte---

Nice pic. How's your man? Has he visited yet?
Thanks, Liebe.
Yes, HE is here now and we have great fun together.
