sebomaster: all is in the title i think ,so,i would be glad to know what ladies think about it ;)
thanks a lot ;)
I started doing taekwondo a few months ago and about 4 months after the trainer got into some kinda trouble with the law . So the classes stopped, It was disappointing because I really liked it and was enjoying it. Its a great way to keep fit and I like the discipline aspect .

Sure sounds like a crappy reason to deny you re-starting training again.
As sebo mentioned in a post above, why don't you try a style that bases itself more with grappling and groundwork? With a power lifter's physique I guess you'd be more at home with such a style than kickboxing.
Anyway, don't let one guy's crappy attitude put you off martial arts mate.
Martial arts is not just about being able to beat people up. It teaches you to have greater awareness of your body and mind; it's a good exercise to stay healthy and your body flexible even as you age; and teaches one self discipline.
Besides, how many times are you going to have to fight vs. someone with a shotgun? We're not in the Wild West you know.
Hello Wulfen.
Don't loose any sleep on what Bradlee writes.
At best he is a joker, at worst he is a nonentity.
Besides, I would rather read your informative posts to learn something new.

anonymous1: When my daughter was 10, she wrecked an older boy's balls.
I was upset with her; and, I asked her why she did it?
She said, "He tried to take down my pants, Dad."
So I told her... You're getting ICE CREAM! .
Yey! Good for her. Buy her an ice-cream from me as well
Meg used to get upset when she was that age if she hurt someone - she'd howl crying in shame. I just had to keep hammering that message home - any boy that tries to hurt you, or force you to do something you don't want to do is fair game.
Its such a shame that we have to raise our kids this way, though.

When my daughter was in kindergarten one of her clasmates had halopitichia, ( not sur of the spelling ) anyway. there was a boy teasing her and took off her hat and was playing keep a way. My daughter went over shouved the boy down, took the hat, gave it back to the girl and said lets go play. I told her I generaly dont aprove of fighting but I was proud of what she did.

Don't like the grappling arts. You're right about one persons crappy attitude..but I made a decision to stick to what I know best...Powerlifting.

wulfen: Hehe, actually football is another passion of mine. The two aren't incompatible so long as you have the time to practice both :)
Seeing the world cup final there was at least one Dutch player who didn't have a bad flying kick at all (can't remember the name, but it was the guy who kicked the Spanish player in the chest during the final, lol)
Whew... yes time is a bit of an issue these days with all their homework plus soccer, now rugby and cross country. Our boys are encouraged to do lots of extra murals at school, which I think is great - keeps them fit and healthy and hopefully out of mischief (at least that's the idea!!!). I'll check with them who that Dutch player was - they got to know all the players with all the excitement of it being held here!

You make me wish I had grown up in South Africa.
Over here when I was a kid the attitude in schools was that sports was a waste of time since you couldn't earn money from it, and you would only get into it because you weren't any good at academic subject. Go figure such an attitude from 'educators' eh?
Unfortunately the same attitude was shared by a lot of parents back in those days as well. Thankfully that seems to be changing nowadays, and the kids' class at our dojo has a very healthy attendance.
