SummerUK: Cor Blimey!!!! Talk about being dillusional
Having spent 3 months there recently, I have a lot to say about the states but haven't because I don't want to offend my American friends but Ohhhhhh!!!! Boy!!!!!
If my house is a mess and ya tell me about it....oh, well - facts is facts. I see some things that need cleaning up, but it ain't easy.
My oath in the Marines to defend the country from even DOMESTIC threats would have to extend to corperations and the govt itself(including the military) if it were to be fully honored.

gardenhackle: It's absolutely true. And not just because I say so. If you don't believe it's so, just look at how many discussions there are about US Politics and the complete absence of discussions about all the miserable dirty dealings going on everywhere else in the world. The USA is always the topic of conversation, advice, political analysis and completely idiotic monologues and diatribes for people all over the globe. Why?
Because every other country is utterly meaningless and irrelevant.
It's the only logical explanation.
So now you know. So let's give a big round of applause and appreciation for the USA, greatest nation of all as inadvertently voted by all the international members on CS. The US thanks all of you for your recognition.
gardenhackle: Ran us out? We just let you think that so you wouldn't feel bad about getting stuck with all the frozen real estate, bugs, swamps (and, of course, the Quebec French). But we love y'all. You have good fishing. And cheap lumber. You're cool.
You forgot one thing... they got some hot chicks up there in Ontario, Canada. At least that's why saw the last time I visited Ontario.

I'm talking about fundemental issues.. Ive visited a LOT of different countries. Some that are assumed to be 'behind' with the times are way advanced compared. I was shocked at some of the things I saw and experienced in the states. I'm not blaming the people at all, I met some of the most amazing folk there but Jeeeeeeez Healthcare, poverty, lack of even basic education even plumbing and simple amenities etc etc... It was unbelievable.
I believe the majority of Americans are VERY good people and cling on to patriotism in the hope that things will change. A bit like a very very bad marriage

I completely agree with you Summer. I lived in the States for a year and frankly it was shocking. Growing up in Canada I had this misconception that the States was somehow bigger, better, more advanced. What a culture shock it was to actually live there. Overall, It made me feel very very sad. However, this was just my experience.

You forgot roads full of holes and bridges falling apart.
Now I'm still American and love my country, but it's not what it could be or even what it used to be - fundamentally speking.

If I find me a great Canadian girl I may just move up there a while

I think they have the makings of being an amazing country. Getting down to basics they are extremely wholesome and genuine people but their government lets them down time and time again yet they still hold fast the patriotism which should be celebrated really. It shows how positive and steadfast they really are.
We in the UK aren't so patriotic. We deal with crappy governments also, but we developed our Fabulous, sarcastic sense of humour instead. Its second to none

my friend all countries have their share of stupid people but the thresd that gardenhackle put on here is very insulting and degrading to the rest of the world.
