Growing up in Canada I had this misconception that the States was somehow bigger, better, more advanced. What a culture shock it was to actually live there. Overall, It made me feel very very sad. However, this was just my experience.
I felt sad too actually. Sad for the people who consistently wave the flag blindly hoping for improvement in their lives.
Canada was a whole different ball game. Mostly contented, vibrant people with a fabulous country to live in

If you don't believe it's so, just look at how many discussions there are about US Politics and the complete absence of discussions about all the miserable dirty dealings going on everywhere else in the world. The USA is always the topic of conversation, advice, political analysis and completely idiotic monologues and diatribes for people all over the globe. Why?
Because every other country is utterly meaningless and irrelevant.

I think most would agree that America has had a lot of positive influences on our lives too. Not the government but the people. How many of us have soooo many happy childhood memories of Disney or movies like 'Its a wonderful Life'

Well, fellas, if you think some other country is more important, then maybe we can all switch subjects and talk trash about some OTHER country for awhile instead. I'm just going by CS posts. I'd wager posts about the US by folks talking about or domestic politics (you know, the part that's OUR business) outnumbers discussions and posts about ANY other country by about 100 to 1.
