cherryrae: there is a socialist element that is underscoring europe at the moment.
with the GFC underscoring dire situations for most coutries, revolution is being looked upon as the only option
Public order in Europe has been disrupted since the GFC, however, disaffection has been rising from both extremes of the political spectrum. There has been strong swings to right-wing parties in recent elections. Who knows? I'd say disaffection brought about by the current climate is universal.

i do agree, however you only have to look at the rapidly increasing memberships of both extremes, and the fact that the socialist movements have been violently protesting in countries like france, where businesses were occupied, and buildings set on fire by workers just last month. and even the ones in britain were organised by student unionists, with socialist links
while people maybe leaning to vote right, the left is making their presence felt in another way
invinciblemuse: I'm glad they're protesting - it's about time.
I have seen the negative effects these ridiculous tuition fees have on students first hand. How are they supposed to concentrate on getting an education when debts and sheer survival are the biggest concerns?
I agree, why should a student have to be concerned about paying for the education he gets, that enhances himself. It just doesn't seem right. Seems like the working class should foot the bill for his education. Makes sense to me.

It's always good to burn the business that employ you. Real brilliant.
Those poor students. Camera's everywhere, with their faces showing the world what damage they have done. A student march, sit in or even a love in, would have help them more. Violence is never the answer! VIOLENCE IS NEVER THE ANSWER! out baby!

Not to sound negative, but I think the UK's problems will only get worse due to being an island with finite room and a population that is not finite. A lot of these students are going to school with no hope in their eyes of finding employment when they finish school. Being the the UK is an expensive place to be in the first place, their prospects for the future do not look good and they know it.
