craig63: sadly you do get a lot of people that get involved with protests because they are just looking for a fight. With the tuition fees when my sister went to college etc my parents did not get any help from the gvmt so if you decide you want to go to uni then its up to you to pay for it. Come on these students wont have to pay anything back untill they are earning 20,000 pounds plus a year hard life isnt it start living in the real world students.
like i say whatever me and my sister had our parents had to foot the bill.
thumbs up cheers

thelastgoodman0: An organized refusal to sign up for classes would work better than violent protests. If there are no paying students, the schools shut down, professors are unemployed, and the education system fails. To prevent this, prices will be reduced. If students really want to keep the prices down, they need to refuse to sign up for classes next term unless the prices are reduced.

Violence is never the best answer. Besides, they could all probably use a few months off school.

You best contact the NUS (National Union of Students) here in the UK, quick.rolling on the floor laughing

Medicine and the Financial Sector are mostly high-paying careers. I think students will be thinking more careful of courses rather than taking a course for the sake of it, from now on. Much more care will be taken chosing a course as they do need to consider the debt involved.

Laws of supply and demand do work. College costs are ridiculously high. Funny no one complains about that...!

TrueBlue1986: In a sense yea, I don't for a second consider the average wet-behind-the-ears student to be behind the violence. However there's a strong self-righteous feeling amongst the students(there was one when I was there too), and a feeling that they can take and do anything they want to society, as they inherently feel they have the right to slack-off at everybody elses expense - so i'm not suprised to see this spoilt behaviour amongst the protests, as it's endemic to British student's attitude itself.
thumbs up

(4) Members of the British Police were critically injured.

I have a live feed from London, so I can watch this live.

The riot is about the raise in student tuition in Great Britain.

They broke out the window in Prince Charles’s car, kicked his automobile and splattered white paint on the trunk.

They smashed windows at Government buildings in downtown London.

I couldn't believe that British Horses are also helping the British Police.

What do you think about this?

London Riot: Tory HQ smashed by British students

I was walking along the Strand when the protestors appeared. At this point it was a peaceful demonstration but I noticed some demonstrators were wearing balaclavas and I overheard concern from some protestors about public bystanders taking photos as I briefly walked along side before I took the tube at the Embankment.

There were police lining the entire Strand and at various stations but all was under control until much later on in the day. I think the students were right to protest about the fees but do not endorse some of the behaviour that erupted.

I think the vote on increasing tuition fees is not justified but only time will tell whether this is a ploy to cut universities budgets. It has been reported that universities would increase fees anyway to meet their overheads and this had been estimated at approximately £7,000 p.a.

In my opinion HRH Prince of Wales should have been driven along a different route or cancelled travel into the capital dunno wave

bestbefore: Am I wrong in thinking these fees do not apply in Scotland?

You are correct, they do not apply here in Scotland. Not yet anyway. Just a matter of time I suppose ....sigh

NEWS: Tuition fees protests continue and as the police begin kettling them, the students bring out a giant pot noodle.

Due to an unfortunate mix up last night, Camilla found herself kettling students on Regent Street, while a horse called Rocky had a lovely evening at the London Palladium.

Pixels1: possibly educational standards in the first place

I don't know about college standards here, but the more we throw at government run high school education, the more stupid our children test.

What one derives from that is up to how you view politics.

As regards the attack on Prince Charles and his property, WRONG..scold

As regards students rioting because they are struggling to get funding for tuition, WRONG..

When I was still in school (Back in 10000BC), if we didnt have rich parents who would support us and let us live with them for nothing while we took our degrees, etc we had no choice but to forego that pleasure and get a job.

I never got a degree, because my parents couldnt afford to keep me for another 3 years, transport me to college and pay for all my school books. I always regretted that; not that its stopped me from progressing in life..

However, although education is always good, whats wrong with paying for your OWN tuition?

Radical idea, I know...roll eyes doh

just to help you out, the two royals were nothing to do with it.They were on their way to yet anougher free gala performance and the driver drove right upto the students, so they vented their anger at them.cheers

reb:

What happens in Europe comes to the USA within (2) years.

We can expect riots here also if the USA Government does not get its act together.

Did you see the news today about President Obama handing the reins of his Administration back to Bill Clinton?

The video is not up yet.
