serene56: So, what exactly is a normal guy

I was thinking that a normal guy would be someone who is fairly confident, without being arrogant and someone who has a healthy respect for women.

He would be just a little humble, but still proud of his achievements in life, at the same time admitting that things, relationships perhaps, that haven't turned out so well could find him at least partially to blame

What are your thoughts about normalguys

What is 'normal?' In my day, this meant finishing a bit of school, getting a job, meet a girl, get married, buy a home have kids, keep working until 65 and enjoy being a pensioner with grandchildren to hand back when they got noisy.

The 60s brought us a different view and 'normal' had many different meanings. My older brother was a bit of a rocker (and had the values listed above) while I was of the lucky 'generation' who couldn't decide between being a surfie (wished for blonde hair like my brother & sister) or being a flower child (wished for long hair but Dad ruled the roost), both entailed free love and peace.yay My little sister went down the 'tied and true' path, married a surfie who later became a businessman.

Normal for some is covered in tatt's, for others it is 'short back & sides' or even that ponytail coming off the 'crome dome.' Having been single for 13 years (not completely by choice) with a couple of interludes in between, I figure that maybe I don't fit into a 'normal' category that suits most people. Maybe that is why I am single.

Yes, I respect women and treat them as equals, although when you see who they sometimes hitch up with (me for example) you have to wander who is the brighter one.

I am at an age where I have my foibles and want to do the things I want to do. I would love to be with someone like minded to share these things but we each have our own wants and standards we want to retain. Yes, I love music (if you don't include all that crap stuff around now - very good ones in between) but it doesn't mean I want to go out dancing every night.

So what is 'normal?' Normal is what you are looking for to suit you current lifestyle. My daughter says I should dye my hair but I don't think a blue rinse would suit me.

What are your thoughts about normal guys

"fairly confident" - You're either confident or you are not. If you are only confident while your opinion suits your partner ... guess what ... you're NOT confident, you are a pet under training.

"arrogant" - Arrogance is just unfounded confidence. Of course it has to be unfounded confidence that your partner disagrees with ... heh heh.

"healthy respect for women" - Why not have a healthy respect for all things deserving respect ... are women a special case? Do they deserve respect no matter what they do? As an XY chromosome wearer I never ask women to have a healthy respect for men.

"little humble" - A LITTLE HUMBLE! You need to read a little Dickens, David Copperfield in particular. Uriah Heep was "very 'umble Sir." There is nothing more phoney than someone who is "a little humble".

"proud of his achievements in life" - Oh he would have to have SOME achievements so that his partner could "humble him" when ever he mentions them.

"admitting that things, relationships perhaps that haven't turned out so well could find him at least partially to blame" - We XY chromosomers really don't have a problem "admitting things" ... in fact "things" are often "admitted" for us by our women. Odin forbid we should ever have a valid opinion. Besides, most men have already accepted that everything and anything that happens in a relationship is OUR fault so move on ... the same old mantra is boring us.

No Sireeee ... Or Misssseeee ... I don't want to be "Normal".
