Hmmmmm, I bought a girl I was dating contact lenses for Christmas one year, we split shortly thereafter.

Not really sure why though, I thought the gift of sight was a rather romantic gesture.confused

Well I think my picnic on the beach as the sun went down was rather romantic daydream

Was planning a little more romance on the beach that night, but due to the arrival of around 50 teenagers who proceeded to light a fire, get the boombox going and party on ... the romance was taken elsewhere gotta go

I had planned a full-on desert trip through the North Simpson Desert and invited my (then) current love to join our mixed group after just knowing her some 3 months earlier. She was thrilled about holidaying with me although apprehensive a bit about camping out many many miles from the nearest shower. When the whole group met at Kulgera (NT) about 7 months later, I decided that it might be better for us not to continue the planned hard trip but to spend the time together with just the 2 of us together rather than a group.

We spent a month of touring the outback staying at various locations, just us and the moon and the stars most nights, even with fellow campers a short distance away. We spent 24/7 together and we both agreed that camping out with a fire, a glass of wine (or a beer) was a great way to be together. And yes, the romance did flourish during that time. We both agreed that a campfire on a starlit night is very very romantic. Much much better than a movie and jumping into bed afterwards. Okay, getting into a tent and joined sleeping bags has its difficulties but when the scene has been set, it is no problem.

.. kinda like that trick we played as a kid where we stuck our finger in a box with cotton wool and put fake blood around it so people thought we had cut it off
