CNN reports France was first to fire, then U.S. Have to wonder with the economy in the States can they afford to get heavily involved in this? Can any country?
larsvegas: I suggest you travel to France and have a look for yourself instead. You might be surprised to find very friendly people who don't think much of the colonial empire.
so? I am talking about the gov... not the people...
Obama just announced during an radio address that the USA won't do anything by going on grownd .But then he says that the USA will bomb from the ships.
It was important for the French to make the first strike to show that this is an international task force and not just a US one. All very political but very important concidering the anti-US sentiment in the Middle East.
Correct, it was France and the UK that fired first. USA is waiting in the wings with a different plan...they know where Kaddafi is and will go after his life in a strategic manner.

I just followed the links put up about the first missles being fired by the French and it shows a picture of a Mig 23 in flames as it is headed straight into the ground (pilot ejected)
Unfortunately, it is the same Mig 23 the rebels said was theirs that got shot down earlier today. There is two or three earlier reports where one guy says he saw it launching attacks on Bengazi and one where the rebels said it was theirs trying to defend Bengazi, which would make sense if it was firing on Gadaffi's forces inside Bengazi.
Either way, it FUBAR on the accuracy of the reports!
