I was looking through the United Staes forums and noticed this on the New York one.
According to a books theories its like this... The burger is to blame the sandwich. Pollution is to blame the industrial revolution. Todays wars are to blame English collonialisation. Greed is to blame for English imperialism. England owes each person on the planet around $4000 compensation for breach of human rights. England is to blame for concentration camps and todays genocides
I was wondering what other people felt about these claims?

All I would like to say for now is. The special relationship between the UK and the US make them complicit in all the foreign interventions since the end of WW2. I might add that Australia and Canada have played their part as well.

Optomistic could not agree with you more just thought it was a bit rich of an American in todays climate to Blame the English for all the ills of the world

For all the talk of special relationship I believe that a lot of Americans do not like the English. The relationship by the way is mainly between Wall Street and The City of London. The ordinary American and English person are not considered in the special relationship.
My historical family had tough time after the American civil war....living in the deep south. I should get payments from Lincoln and the Union because they had tough times?
optomistic68: Did you notice that I used the word English and not British.
The Canadians will be confused..
As an englishman born to Irish parents i feel The English and british in general tend to gloss over facts such as the Irish famine and only are happy celebrating peoples weddings that thye have to pay for and remebering wars that their grandfathers fought Never questioning what they did in the past the nasty stuff is not taught in History class today. And never was or will be

Maybe as an Englishman you should learn your Irish history!! and actually take time to find out correct fact about the "Wedding" before making comments. As for the Irish famine et al, what are the English supposed to do? keep harking on about it or try to make amends by ensuring that finance is available to Ireland, we all learn from history, there is absolutely no point in going over and over past mistakes, why can't we ALL just work towards a peaceful future???
optomistic68: Are they Canadians or North Americans?
Sad that you wouldnt know that. Speaks volumes about you. Rather ironic when you consider these are the peeps your attempting to belittle intellectually. Canada ranked 3rd in the world standardized educational testing...Where pray tell did your country rank?
