blarneykite: We don't. many of us loved killing you lot for years

Really the Irish don't hate the english, some elements of the irish dilike the english and some more hate you, but the majority are indifferent to the issue....

Aint that the truth regards the fighting.

My comment was sweeping, as there have been some on here venting their spleen re past history as if we were ignorant of the facts.

I would hope that lessons have been learned, but doubt it.We all need each other and the fact that Britain is not in the Euro is costing us a packet bailing bankrupt countries out ,so we do have our uses. We are always the first to support countries in crisis, through natural disasters,so it isn't all bad.handshake

bestbefore: For example, Christopher Columbus's spiritual mission was to travel to the west and find suitable nutrition for the English. [/quote ]

If my history serves me right Columbus was an Italian from Genoa who under the auspices of the Catholic Monarchs of Spain made 4 voyages across the Atlantic, which led to general European awareness. This then initiated a Spanish conolisation of the Western world and the Americas.

My dear lady, as I have mentioned, Columbus was not aware of his true mission,

"English To Blame for the Worlds Problems"

Its so easy to point the finger and blame someone else isn't it ?

“If you reveal your secrets to the wind you should not blame the wind for revealing them to the trees.”

“If you blame others for your failures, do you credit them with your success?”

“All blame is a waste of time. No matter how much fault you find with another, and regardless of how much you blame him, it will not change you. The only thing blame does is to keep the focus off you when you are looking for external reasons to explain your unhappiness or frustration. You may succeed in making another feel guilty about something by blaming him, but you won't succeed in changing whatever it is about you that is making you unhappy.”

“When you blame others, you give up your power to change.”

“We are taught you must blame your father, your sisters, your brothers, the school, the teachers - you can blame anyone but never blame yourself. It's never your fault. But it's always your fault, because if you wanted to change, you're the one who has got to change. It's as simple as that, isn't it?”

Tomcats2: I was looking through the United Staes forums and noticed this on the New York one.

According to a books theories its like this...
The burger is to blame the sandwich.
Pollution is to blame the industrial revolution.
Todays wars are to blame English collonialisation.
Greed is to blame for English imperialism.
England owes each person on the planet around $4000 compensation for breach of human rights.
England is to blame for concentration camps and todays genocidesI was wondering what other people felt about these claims?

Simplified...almost too simplified.

I don't think it's right to point fingers of blame to England for all the problems of the world. Each country has it's own cross to bear and every single one of the governments make mistakes, as do we, as humans.

I just think it's an overly simplified explanation and think the world's problems are a conglomeration of many different things, intolerance, crimes against each other and humanity, violation of human rights, religious intolerance, social unrest, hunger, poverty, etc...who will ever know why the world is truly the way it is...I Just find it very, very, very sad.blues

Oh and I don't blame anyone for anything. Guess I shouldn't be on the political forum...okay I am leaving motorcycle

A lot has been written and said about the impact of English colonialism around the world. I guess you could link everything back to 'the homeland' if you really wanted to. Perhaps it's fair, but I'm not sure how helpful it is. JMO. dunno
