Are you aware the goverments new national transport agenda is to stop ALL cars over the age of 10yrs old to be scrapped or put onto a club registration within 5-10years. Apparently another type of carbon tax. My every day driver is 11 years old with 58k on the speedo. I realy cant see me being able 2 buy a new car every 10yrs yet alone wear 1 out. My question, can you aford a new car every 10 yrs or are you like me and like your low klms classics? 
I have a 2001 model Astra with 59k on it. I have seen 5 year old cars with 100k+ on them. Which one is more worn out?

I drive a '96 Mazda Astina and she's a lil beauty
Her name is Grace and I've had her for around 2 and a half years. I'll be driving her until she's had enough and have no plans to replace her until that time.

There was talk a few yrs ago about scrapping cars over 10yrs old if they were in an accident. At the moment even if these cars are written off in an accident they can be repaired and re-registered, in the future these cars would be scrapped.
I don't think it's such a bad idea. You could still have a car over 10yrs old as long as it hasn't been in an accident.

I am now carless, I loved my nissan skyline girl racer car and was going to store it but I decided last minutue that would be silly as will probably not go backso put my car on main road and it sold within 3hs and buyer didnt know me but seen me and knew my car and brought it straight away without a test drive, or checking, nothing, just gave me the cash

people like to steal those skylines over this way. A heap of them got impounded for speeding, doing 140km down Adelaide streets
