jem1964: well after talking to friends I have made a call and dog gets operation tomorrow, switching to another vet.
As the jaw is grating each time she moves it I think this is a much better plan, coz I am nearly being sick listening to it!

we were just coming home from a walk, 4 doors out from the main gate. Gabby went to say hello being her friendly self, to a dog we have said hello to before. But old half blind dog grabbed her instead
neither of us owners were expecting it, and they took me to the vets straight away, and paid for todays consult

Oh she is at home with you?!

Thank God she is being seen to tomorrow sigh

What a shock, everyone must have been beside themselves, are you ok jem?

yes she is home with me, they wouldnt have had a chance of keeping her over night as she frets when i am away for the day when she is home, let alone in strange places!

I am ok now I am home after cradling her in my arms for 2 hous with the smell of her blood under my nosebarf Held it together til I got home then crying crying crying crying but only after I got her cleaned up.

had to do that first coz she was trying to lick herself cleanblues

and thx hug

God Jem, I feel sick just thinking about it. hug

How is she going to eat afterward, I gather they wire the jaw shut. I think you both have a long road ahead.

But I really have to say if she is that insecure, and you haven't even met yet. I'd be giving her the flick.

likely they will put in a feeding tube for her depending on where the break is and if the jaw can handle pressure or not. Hopefully not wiring jaw together, just the bones, or it will mean another op. I will have to wait and see how the new vet wants to do things, at least he was saying he would take an xray, original vet wasnt even talking about that, just opening her up and seeing what was there..

guess she will be on vitamised food for a while, thats gunna be fun !

Depends on the break but she will probably end up with plates and screws holding the broken bones together, they only wire jaws shut if the break is really severe or if you have shattered bones normally. But yes it will be vitamised food for a while.
Bet she's on some major pain relief at the moment.
Poor little thing give her a hug from mehug

It's gonna be tough for both of you, that's for sure, but aren't dogs amazing how they battle through these things and bounce back dunno

Especially when they have someone who loves them and cares so much about them purple heart

Hope you'll keep us updated and let us know how she's getting on jem hug

she was given a 24hr pain killer injection, not really worried about much unless she moves her jaw much.

thankfully as she is a pomeranian the food isnt going to be a huge problem, she dont eat that much!

and yes Serene I will let you know how she is hug

It's interesting to ponder on the relationships that form on these sites hmmm

Sometimes people seem to expect some kind of exclusivity which is a little puzzling to me when they haven't actually met in the flesh confused

Exclusivity in the context of feeling threatened when others are merely interracting on the threads with no intent, it's just in fun.

I've seen it a few times before conversing

Its amazing what they can do with surgeries now l have a friend who's dog was run over, her hip was shattered and they managed to put her back together with pins, screws and plates and she lived to a ripe old age.
Pomeranians are so cute and yes your lucky they dont eat much.
Best of luck for the surgery tommorow.bouquet
