I lied about my age once
on a different web site, some time ago there was a lovely lady who had my age blocked, I really really wanted to make contact so I made a new profile, knocked 5 yrs off my age and sent an up to date piccy, everything went fine and we were seeing each other regularly for a while but I couldn't find the right moment to tell her what I had done and why.
eventually she had a birthday, the next door neighbour came round with a card while I was there, lo and behold, she had knocked 5 yrs off her age too, I laughed about it and confessed.......she never spoke to me again
The moral is, never lie.

I thought I knew she'd want to speak to me if she knew i was there I often thought i should have told her what i'd had to do to speak to her in my intro, but then she would have blocked me
weird thing is, once I found out that I could laugh about it and she couldn't, I kinda didn't care about it not working out and what's even weirder was that it was pretty instant for both of us, laughing one mo and then pft two mins later I'm riding away thinking I had a lucky escape, she texted me three weeks later "just to say Hi" I texted back telling her I had a boyfriend now.

One lie does not in my opinion make a person 'dishonest'. It is the context in which the lie was told which is the important factor. Your loss .. to walk away because you cannot stop yourself from applying negative stereotypes, is the tragedy here.

missingLondon: Met online and e-mailed back and forth, spoke on the phone. Then he says he lied about his age and his online photo is 20 years old. Profile claimed he was 36 when he's 56. Sent recent photos. He's not bad looking but why lie about age? Claims not to be a cradle snatcher.
Maybe the first photos were 40 years old and now he sent 20 year old photos, so it might turn out that he's 76!
