Too bad you couldn't just have a personality operation 10 years earlier?
Was wondering about what happens when you come off them - cos I am only allowed to stay on it for 4.5 years as more than that increases the risk of breast cancer etc.

Oh dear I have been on them for 23 yrs .... I worked out that the reduced risk of a stroke on them out weighed the risk of breast cancer.

I believe the thinking on this has changed only in the last couple of years...

I look at it this way Toff! everything we do is a risk... I worked out that breast cancer is a lesser evil than a stroke' at least we have a fighting chance by being observant ,with a stroke no warning a lot of the time.
Also the quality of life on them is important too.

I was put on hrt after hyster 7 years ago - at first I had the implants - they were supposed to have a life of 6 months - yeah - I was lucky to have 3 months but they were magically felt the difference straight away, then one of my gps refused to do implants - he didn't like them, so he put me on tabs, I hate taking tabs - so I would skip them - then finally a few years ago - I was put on patches - they made all the difference - you just have to make sure you have the right dosage - my dr upped my dosage, but it looks like my dosage will be need to be increased...
Hot flushes - I used to lean over the bath and put my head under the tap to cool down - I even described it as a scene from hercules - with hades head of fire....

I am of that age when HRT is now a part of my life, at least for a little while. Hot flushes were the worst, then insomnia crept in......so off to the doc I went. My mum was on HRT as well, to my knowledge mostly because of hot flushes too. Like mother, like daughter I guess.
I have been suffering for over 10 years now - managed to cope to begin with, then tried herbal remedies, then acupuncture and chinese herbs and they all worked brilliantly for some years.
Then came to the point where nothing worked any more, cept good ol prescription meds.
What is your experience?
