Once upon a time on CS, about two years ago I guess, something happened that we had not witnessed on here before. Now there had always been fights, arguments and trouble makers, but this was different. A new member turned up who at first seemed just like any other fresh face, in fact very friendly and polite at first, but that didn't last. Within no time the newbie had begun posting inflammatory threads waiting for a reaction, then would accuse many members of being trolls. The new member was always backed by another member who although was not an entirely new face, was just getting known to all of us. The two profiles between them cause no end of upset until they were finally banned and normal service resumed. Alas, it didn't last long, the same scenario played itself out time and time again with new names until it became obvious the two profiles were indeed set up by the same person and that the culprit was in fact a previously disgruntled banned member.
Sound familiar?
The situation escalated with the trouble maker stealing other members photos, posting spoof profiles and threads attacking individual members with vile and disgusting language. Eventually admin managed to rid the forums of this low life and for the last few months, or perhaps longer we have had comparative peace on here.
I would hope that if this situation should re-occur admin will act quickly to nip it in the bud.

Rocksmith: People really need to show restraint, and just not reply to the threads.
It's pretty obvious which threads they are.... i think so anyway!
Having said that i got sucked in once or twice.
lol..me too...
and without a couple friendly private reminders, i probably would of dove right into the pool as i love a good banter. but i realized that what i wanted to post was just me reacting instead of acting, or me wanting to be clever, or wanting to be RIGHT... which usually indicates to me i am no longer listening...lol.. if there was a real exchange of views on the site, instead of just twisted semantics, i would of participated.

Yeh it does take a while before you can spot them.... they'll get us all a few times, before we wise up to em!

I don't come here that often due to people who do post pathetic loser type threads and normally I don't reply but I did to several too... as they were so against women. But it's that person's problem who seems to hate women so much he cowardly hides behind his computer and using his ugly words to spew his venom. I should have just ignored it all. And I could see a lot of people didn't. He got attention, negative as it was, but there are hundreds (one thread had over 400) of replies and over 6,000 views. I think anyone with an ounce of integrity should stop reading and replying to him. He's obviously getting off on our replies. I am stopping as of now. I don't usually read those type of threads and was sucked in...no more.
I am hoping he is just a coward behind a computer and does not go out into the real world...I shudder to think of what he is capable of doing if he is this angry and hurts people for real. Scary thought!!
Anyway back to fun times!!! I will just be in the joke section looking for some laughs!! Merry Christmas to all!!

Im not sure who is it that you are talking about ...
Most stories need an antagonist, and the CS saga is no different, as we see here on a daily basis. The most popular threads are usually ones that start out with an inflammatory comment, or a negative tone towards the opposite gender, or a specific group. Then the bashing begins.
I have often wondered whether people feel better after attempting to flatten someone through negativity and name calling, or if they believe they'll change that person's views or outlook by doing so. What other reason(s) would they resort to lowering themselves to such tactics?
How many threads, and how many replies, and it will continue until certain members are removed. Then everyone can pat each other on the back and congratulate one another for a job well done in getting the "troll" removed. Maybe it's a sense of victory, winning, or getting one's way that prompts people to act as they do.
Ultimately, we're all responsible for our own actions, and have the ability to choose which threads we participate in, or don't. If something doesn't suit your fancy, stay out of it, simple innit?

Hard to do when both he and his acolytes flood the threads as they have done.
hi Pat, but soon out of mind when no one posts, as other threads quickly replace them. and with no one bumping them up, including themselves, they are quickly forgotten. we know they are reading this, so i can't help but wonder if by our continued discussion of them, it keeps them coming back. just wondering out loud here. how to find the balance between ridding the site of trolls, and still being able to help keep other members safe. any thoughts on this?

well stated kid! thanks. but still thinking out loud here...lol.. as a community on here, do we share any of the responsibility of watching out for each other? and if we do, how is this best managed?

How many regular posters have joined in or commented? Many over and over again. How does that help? Not in the least for it perpetuates the issue of attention.
