Its a bit hard especially if I look in the mirror, but Ive learnt to accept me the way I am, I got no choice.Any other advice for those who are less than thrilled with their won persona?

Maybe its more a case of accepting who you are and being able to love a person who can also accept you for who you are. None of us are perfect.
Obscuritan: They say that to truly love another you must first love yourself. Kinda disheartening for those who hate themselves isn't it.

Well I would you are who are you and if you don't like yourself, maybe you should be changing who you are to become a better person that you do like.
To be honest, I didn't always like myself but yes now i do and why,
Since being single I have got my real self back, the person I was before i was in the wrong relatioship
and I have raised 2 totally awesome boys
and am happy with what i have achieved in life so far
and done things and taken chances and had guts and determination
and now living in another country where i didnt know alot of people
and I am doing alright
and yes I like who I as I am me with good and bad points
but I am happy with whom I am now
so yes I am going to love again as I am ready for the next step in my life

Yes, accepting who you are. Loving yourself. I think it's the same.
None of us are perfect - true. If you fall in love with someone you love them even with their imperfections. So it goes with out saying that when you love or accept yourself you do so with all imperfections.

2. Place right are around left shoulder
3. Apply firm but gentle pressure
4. Say the following "I love Me"
5. Respond with the following "I love Me too"
6. Smile and repeat actions 1 to 3 as many times as necessary
7. Feel good at knowing that you love you.
8. Progress to next stage which is loving another person who in turn loves you too.
