olaix: What could you get away with in living cost in your country?

Where I live, the average apartment 65m2 is about 1k Euro, but can go up to double if one add a bit of size and triple if you add flavor of the month standard.

Gasoline is about 2 euro/ liter, a dinner out is about 20-30 euro (depending on what you eat of course, fast food is about 10 euro for a burger), my personal food budget is about 100 euro/ week (could live cheaper if I made more myself), a .5 liter coca cola is 2.5 euro if i remember correctly, a heineken .33 is 4 euro, a pack of 20 cigarettes (for those who smoke) is about 12 euro. 1 liter milk is about 2 euro and a piece of bread is 3 euro. a macdonald burger +pepsi and some chips are 1 dollars, pepsi/coke is .90 cents per litre,a packet of bread is here.50 cents.

feel free to add more details.
property and vehicles r very expansive here food is reasonable, petrol is 1.3 dollars, gas .75 dollars

how much do you need to stay there, comfortably, in totality?

Maybe I can add this question to the thread, so its easier to get the big picture - I would not recommend staying in Norway on permanent visa with less than 2000 euro net/ month, but possible.

Since most services are free, like health care, legal aid etc, if not, add basic health insurance

The costs of living vary widely in the United States, and sometimes even in close regional proximity. Here are a few of the things I observed, beginning with salaries to give a baseline:
factory worker, about 11.00 an hour, bartender, about 9.00 an hour, logger, about 13.00 an hour, registered nurse, about 38.00 an hour, medical assistant, about 17.00 an hour, retail clerk, about 10.00 an hour.
1. Two bedroom/1 bath good house in good neighborhood------110,000.00
2. 1 bedroom apartment/duplex in good neighborhood---------450-600/mo.
3. Pack/carton of cigarettes-------------------------------6.00/55.00
4. New bed with mattress/box spring------------------------700.00
5. Carton of milk------------------------------------------3.00-4.00
6. Name brand jeans----------------------------------------60.00-100.0
7. Toilet paper (is it ever NOT on sale?)------------------9.00 for 24
8. candy bar/Pack of nuts/Chips------------------------about a dollar
9. Set of Corelle dinnerware-------------------------------40.00
10. New flat screen T.V. mid-size 500.00
12. New watch----------------------------------------------70.00

Hope this gives you a good idea, here on the southern coast of Oregon

thumbs up Super. I live well on what many would see as too modest of an amount. It's all about how you manage the money you have. (I never go shopping without a list. I almost never buy stuff I don't really need. I'm never broke. Gets a little close to it, though)!

I buy everything, especially what I don't need on credit card, because they never lose their shape and have a bottomless hole and when they don't work anymore, I order a new with different colors grin kidding

I spent 6 weeks in Thailand some years ago, that was a "live like a king" experience too. Almost felt a little bit guilty about it hehe

Considering that free services are few and of poor quality, 1200 euros a month, living in a nice neighborhood in the city without car.
