scriobhneoir: What are the signs in a profile that let you know you haven't a chance with a person that you would be interested in? Two for me would be if they say they're looking for 'tall' or 'attractive'. Also even if they don't say tall, if they are 5 foot 9 or taller I know they wouldn't be interested.

So what is it for other people in a profile that makes them think 'I haven't a hope.' Just curious.

I always think I have a chance. Why notdunno

*Twenty or more male friends on the profile. - It's not facebook, so I'd be inclined to think a lad would end up as a tiny pic in her friends box if he talks to her. Maybe she can't make up her mind, and maybe she's not serious about dating.

Good one dante. I quoted something I thought was funny. There's an Irish lad... if you go look for top100 number of friends he's one of them at the very top. He used to have a fake old man body builder pic up. And he had like 500+ friends last I checked. Now the pic is something very very different. lol Anytime I saw he was on the friends list of someone, I walked away immediately. It said volumes about that person.

dantes85: *Nice picture, but little or no text. - To me, that says: "I'm good looking, that's all I need to be". Some people who are very shy might do that, but I find that most girls who claim to be shy manage more than 2 lines on their profile.

.

Yes that would put me off too.

dantes85: Well not to be too critical of others, to each their own, but a few things would encourage me to stop reading and keep going.

*Very mainstream and/or pink background coloured profiles. - If it's a person trying hard to look like a "girly girl", for instance listing shopping as a hobby and referring to men on white stallions riding off with them, then no.

*No pictures. - There's different reasons for people doing this, but no. It's just a minefield of negative signals.

Lastly, and this is terrible to say, but I know everyone does it and may not admit it. This is the number one cause of profile flicking. "Blah Profiles". Generic, uninteresting, no humour, nothing to catch the eye or engage the mind.

great post thumbs up

There's two of them that I see everywhere, they're friends with hundreds of girls on here. One is a certain "Mr. Bond" and the other has a name from Shakespeare - "Alas poor Yorick, I knew him H***tio". (Don't think we're meant to name them openly on forums) I think Mr. Bond is the one you're referring to.

Anyone else seen these guys?

You men are just as fussy as the females unless a girl is drop dead gorgeous you wont even try to find out what her personality is like you just dont bother answering messages. people are just too shallow

I personally think the emotional aspect is important too. I think after a few emails you get a idea of what type of person you are chatting too and maybe a rapport can be built.

Personally I find the whole height agenda a bit off putting for guys under 6ft it can be daunting.

Its not how tall or good looking you are its what kind of person you are is what counts.

for me if they are looking for a pretty girl to have on their arm that likes going to pubs/clubs then thats me gone straight away, if they want a real girly girl then that aint me either.

things that make me run from a profile would be someone looking for a bit of fun, someone who goes out on the piss every week. suppose the slight vain part would be height is an issue for me, generally 5 ft 9 or over blushing
