vinny1967: Am not sure but will check it tomorrow. Its going to be tight for Ch League spots now, especially with the unknown of Chelsea in the Ch League final.
Roy Hodgson has just been named England Manager
Hodgeson would make sense as he has experience managing international teams. I can see that being a possibilty alright. Will be interesting to see how it plays out. Having said that the English FA have handled the whole charade very badly in my opinion. Capello was going to retire anyway after the Euros. I realise the John Terry incident was a major factor in Capellos resignation. However it was still handled badly.
DUBLINGUY1973: I thought it was crazy delaying the decision in the first place but they have delayed it this long, whats another few weeks? Roy did a good job at Fulham and West Brom but I thought Redknapp was the obvious choice. Yet again the FA have proven without a shadow of a doubt that they have no clue what they are doing.
Yep its a joke. Its another few weeks Noel. The season is just finishing and most International squads are getting together 4/5 days after the season ends. Stuart Pearce said last week he was expecting to pick the 23 man squad. That is a joke. They have no captain and no manager and the Rio/Terry thing needs to be resolved. There is also underlying issues with Gerrard after Terry usurped his captaincy before. Thats a lot of things to decide and clear up before a big tournament. They should not be worrying about Spurs or any other club.

Yeah same reply Jim. If the Irish FA delayed this long we would be up in arms over it.

Actually I think Capello handled it badly too. What was he hoping to achieve by sticking up for Terry? Yes, Capello should have had a say in it but at the end of the day, its up to the FA. Personally i would have suspended Terry from England duty pending the court case and not just stripped him of the captaincy. There is precedent....remember Bowyer and Woodgate?
Anyway walking away from the team before a major tournament was unforgiveable.

Yeah I can see both sides. If he was available for England Cappello should have had the tight to pick him as Captain. The FA making that decision, after the previous stripping of his captaincy, made his position untenable imo and I can understand his reasons. The FA should have factored that in to their decision. IMO they should have banned him completely.

Thats the thing though. I don't think they should have reinstated him. What message does that send? You can do something wrong, be stripped of the captaincy, wait a few months and you will be reinstated again? That's like sending a child to his room with no dinner and then bringing him sweets an hour later. It showed that they were just trying to be seen to be doing the right thing rather than actually doing it. They should have either appointed Steven Gerrard as captain full-time or as at least temporarily until Rio came back from injury. The whole thing is a farce really.
Theoneucanthate: There only in talks with hodgson I think! :)

Yeah he probably shouldn't have been. What a divisive and disgusting bloke he is

I'm a little scared because i'm agreeing with you again...but i do think Capello was right in quitting, the F.A. went behind his back and never even discussed it with him, if it was me i'd do the same!! As for the F.A. everyone in football knows they haven't a clue and are as corrupt as F.I.F.A...waiting for the Terry Ferdinand trial to go ahead after the Euros was a disgrace!! Ferdinand had to play the rest of the season with that over his head and will probably be relegated while John Terry will probably pick up an F.A. cup winners medal and a Champions League medal because he didn't get the ban he deserves!!

Imagine if England ended up winning the Euros though. A part of him might just wish he had stuck around. And if they don't, England have a ready made excuse why they didn't. He was leaving at the end of the Euros anyway. I don't fault him for sticking to his principles but if they win it, he might just have cut off his nose to spite his face.

If he was English then i'm sure that would bother him, but he's not and he made his decision purely based on them making a football decision without him, how could you work with that??
Plus if they do win it (which they won't) it'll be the new managers way of doing things and have nothing to do with him!!

True but I suspect he might feel "that could have been me" especially if they win it with the same group of players.

Well their obviously gonna be the same players in or around, just not the same system...they won't win it, they haven't won anything since 1966. Capello will be glad to see the back of that association, the media and the fans!!
