Goes to court to fight, such a lot of money ($130,000) to fight this stuff with council, surely the cheaper option would have been to sell up and move out onto some acreage? Needless to say that he lost.dunno

authority just goes all nanny state on people these days, you can't sell bottled water without a council permit let alone keep animals like our forefathers have done throughout historydoh

Lawyers for the City of Dandenong asked that costs be awarded against Mr Ho.
But Justice Macaulay adjourned the matter to allow lawyers for Mr Ho time to read the judgment before they made submissions on costs.

Outside court, Mr Ho said an appeal was likely.
"(Baa) is a member of my family and I have to help her until the end of all of my capacity," he said.
Mr Ho said legal costs for himself and the council already totalled more than $150,000.

Mr Ho is probably a Buddhist, following Buddhist teachings to benifit other sentient beings not his fault the lunitic in council can't comprehend the sheep has countless times been Mr Ho mothers.
Probably needs to imploy more skillful lawyers...or construct and file the appeal himself.

I think the council in this situation is the law, fighting the law is futile.
ie: we make a law that no sheep can be kept in your backyard etc...

So you really can't win when fighting the council and his lawyers should have pointed this out before robbing him and going to this cost.

Maybe he should have just agisted his pet lamb for a few thousand a year 10 minutes down the road?
sigh

Here in Cockatoo I kept 3 sheep and 3 goats many moons ago, they all died in the 1983 bushfires. Dont see as many nowdays but I dont know if the law has changed.

friend of mine daughter wondered into a Tasmanian Council and paid her over due rates with five chickens as an old law still on the books allowed her to
Same young lady took the publican of the pub she worked for to court and won for not watering her horse

Love those 'old laws.' NSW had a law where a 'gentleman may request a Police Officer to spread his cape for privacy' while he had a whiz. They revoked it in the 1980s.frustrated frustrated cheers

Coppers don't wear capes anymore and somebody had requested 'the privelege" and they couldn't book him for indecent exposure.peace

It's like our stupid council - people have acreage, but if it's not the size etc., then you can't keep geese, chooks, or even a friggin horse... lady had put a submission into council to state that her ducks and geese had the access to the 2.5 acres that council said was legal... honestly I agree with the comment posted about dogs - people have small yards and 2 big rotweillers or a couple of greyhounds... when does common sense prevail...dunno confused

Sorry Bubbles, you just picked on 2 dog breeds that are fine for limited areas, just need the occasional outing. Cattle/herding dogs are the worst for suburbia, they need to be able to run all the time. Terriers need room to have room to run and tiny backyards we get now are too small.

My terrier had over 60 metres to run so he was still fit and active without having the local council to provide an area for him to exercise without being harrassed by the cat lovers.

Thanks Lookin. Not the goats, but the sheep would have ended on the barbie anyway. You should have seen when I inspected the chookhouse, there was 12 chooks roasted with thei drumsticks in the air.

doh

thanks for that...

I just see these dogs being to big for a normal backyard.. I guess I was being judgemental as I see these dogs as working dogs not house dogs, like corgis, or poodles...

dunno
