daggyone: Goes to court to fight, such a lot of money ($130,000) to fight this stuff with council, surely the cheaper option would have been to sell up and move out onto some acreage? Needless to say that he lost.

authority just goes all nanny state on people these days, you can't sell bottled water without a council permit let alone keep animals like our forefathers have done throughout history

In NZ most councils have paperwork that state farm animals and various pets can't be kept on residential properties. But a blind eye is generally turned until neighbours complain. And if neighbours are complaining then theoretically the owner isn't looking after them. Isn't it the same in this situation????

You can’t fight a counsel? They have unlimited money namely yours! And they have total dickheads running them! That make ridiculous decisions for no real reason?

That’s why we can never get rid off state governments! But we can reduce federal government!

We do have a lot of opinionated people around who whisper in peoples ears until they burn enough that those people then make what they believe are popular decisions rather than making the right decisions.
Politicians are a case in point of following popular opinion over sensible thought out logic.

Surely we live in one of the most over governed regions in the world, the last thing we need are more laws and regulations.
There used to be a time when you could enjoy a beer or glass of wine with your BBQ in the park, the no drinking in public law got rid of this Australian tradition.
Heaven forbid if people were allowed to trade their home grown veggies in street trolleys on council footpaths. Firstly there would be the need for $20 million public liability insurance, a council permit followed by a long line of regulations and red tape.

Our lives are ruled by the "you can't do that" brigade.
One has to wonder, are we going too far?
