KNenagh: Don't believe in "training" or "changing" someone, especially if you're our age. You have to take someone as he/she is (I wouldn't change my character for someone and don't expect it from somebody else) or forget about it. This , oh if he/she would be only like this/that and then I could love them...

Everyone changes something about themselves when they are in a relationship. Sometimes it's because they want to or simply because their other half made a few comments about something they do that they don't like.

vinny1967: Only on cs

I do believe it can be an addiction for some. The thrill and subterfuge involved can be a potent mix.

But 95% + just cheat because they choose to.
From my experience when someone is unhappy having a parachute when they jump is a must.

And what about the other 5% who cheat...?

I think you do things to make your partner happy but no, not a big change in character. Take it or leave it! dunno
The last time someone changed his character I was very helpful and packed his bags...grin

sofarsogood74: Well the wagon is there to jump off and back on I suppose.

I was just reading the thread and haveing a chickle at a lot of the womens pius views on dating someone who has been strong enough to overcome an addiction problem. We could all be alcoholice when we have our first drink. Its the luck of the draw. Nobody chooses to be addicted to anything. I respect those who are brave and strong enogh to overcome it.

And would they be so pius if Colin Farrell asked them out. Me thinks not.

Well I'm not going back and reading everyone's post's but I thought there were some men too laugh
But I suppose you do make a good point laugh

Personally I'd prefer to be with a drunk as opposed to an alcoholic. Those meetings can ruin our quality time laugh

Hilarious to see the responses of some folk in here noway would I date a reformed alcoholic bla bla bla...these are the very people who probably go out at the weekend and get blind drunk and think nothing of it...drinking yourself stupid at weekends is just as much a problem as everyday drinking..there are many functioning alcoholics out there people who have a few snifters every few hours or so and still continue on with their everyday lives..they hold down jobs..even drive their cars around ...I supposed it all falls down to how bad of an alcoholic they were...a homeless bum who sits at street corners drinking hard liquor pissing himself as opposed to a functioning alcoholic...

hmmmm think of the pros though....
a chauffeur to ferry you to and from parties and event.
someone sober to make sure you get home safe when you are buckled drunk.
money saving nights out because you could just get them tap water when it's your round.
grin grin grin grin
seriously (I was only joking with the stuff above) yes I would go out with someone who is a recovering alcoholic, as I don't drink much myself and I would admire someone who wants to change and turn their life around.
I went out with an alcoholic before and that ended in tears crying He wanted me to save him....I had to walk away explaining for the millionith time that I would support him if he decided to stop, but no one could save him expect himself!

Phoenix: Guess thats the crunch Diva..How do help someone who won't help themselves first.

But your points on saving money dating a recovering alcoholic shouldn't be dismissed to quickly under all the austerity measures we have to live under...

never waste your time, love or emotion on someone hell bent on destruction...they will do their best to take you down with them!
and that is very valuable advice I learned the hard way!
Listen to your gut...not what's between your legs or in your heart!
Women have fantastic intuition if they would only allow it to shine!
