well i find it very hard,,and its a bit sad really,
and from what i have seen t does not matter how long you are in communication,,
here in australia 85 million dollars was taken by scams of all kinds
last year,, they like to target older people,, i guess because its more likely they have more money

well they tell me they don't have a cam

No it doesn't. I've often obliged a request for a cam chat for like 5 mins so they know I'm actually real. And I'd expect the same in return if I got serious with someone.

I agree, it's a good way to get to know who it is you're chatting with, and it doesn't mean anything else other than hopefully a good conversation.
I have no issue with talking on cam, and have never done anything inappropriate, even when asked.

wrong - perhaps you are not aware but generally cams are associated with behaviors that a lot of women do not want to be associated with
camhos have their own thing going and a lot of us don't want the association, and some men assume if you have a cam it means they get a peek
ummm nobut I don't want to deal with turning down those types of requests, TBH, so I just don't go there

Many people have a a cam and if they don't, they usually have no problems with getting one and getting onto Skype. It doesn't have the stigma it once did.

actually since I don't do LDRs - the locals know what I look like - meh - they see me all the time - but if I was looking long distance I might feel differently

That may mean something different to others. At that stage for me, (and what I've found from others) impropriety on the cam is not going to happen. You seem to be referring to some stage before the stage I'm referring to.
