Most of us suffer from the same affliction, that is, incessant thinking. You know, that voice in your head that talks to you from the moment you awake to the moment you sleep, your mind.

But is this voice really you, your real self?

And have you ever tried, and been able to be, without thoughts for more than just a brief moment?

blah blah

Meditation techniques are very beneficial for transcending static and noise generated by the brain. Your subconscious works overtime to keep your true self disconnected from pure being. The trick is to rise above the planes and find peace, harmony and being in the essence of just existing in the here and now.

OMG - this thread is so appropriate for me.

I guess I would have a big problem if I wasn't thinking about something but I wish I could clear my mind for just one minute to know what peace feels like.

During the day I handle situations one at a time and then think of the next one to take care of without panic but when I go to bed I start to think of things in warp speed that I didn't think of during the day.

The meter just won't turn off..frustrated frustrated

bodleing: By voice I mean thoughts, and we all have those.

Do you think a compassionate thought comes from our ego?
You said
"You know, that voice in your head that talks to you from the moment you awake to the moment you sleep, your mind."

I'm just saying, mine doesn't talk TO me anymore, I am it.

I don't know much about it, Bodleing, but I read somewhere that if you are trying to commune with your higher self, it doesn't communicate with negativity.

I would assume compassionate is loving, but those are emotional/feelings.

The real love essence, the force, whatever, is not an emotion.

Good for me to see this thread - Sometimes I think I am the only one - I have never expierenced a waking moment without some form of thought - Actually scares me the concept of thinking of nothing - Some people love meditation but it is my personal version of hell - To me the little voice is me helping to tease thoughts out

Yeah! I´m not yet able to remain in that "state" 100% of the time but I´m working on it.

For me the breakthrough came when I had an experience during meditation whereby my feminine (left side of the body) and masculine (right side of the body) energy became totally balanced and in harmony. This created a state of total peace and love within which manifested as total welbeing and a quiet mind. Just being and doing, instead of "thinking" and/or "reacting" ... Everything just flows ....

Be it your subconscious or conscious, it's your mind that wants to rule.
The true self, pure consciousness will remain hidden away from most of us and the state of pure being would seem unobtainable.

But as you rightly say, meditation can give you control over your mind, instead of 'it' controlling you.

Maybe you could try, even a few moments of 'stillness' each day can give great rewards.

You are your self, your mind is no more of you than your heart. Your true self cannot be found in the mind. And yes, real love essence is certainly not an emotion. All emotions dwell in the mind.
