Green_Sleeves: Heard this twit on Mooneys show yesterday, I'm embarrassed to say she's from Carlow
Anyway, she was talking about internet dating and hadnt got anything positive to say about it at all! She believes that intenet sites like these are full of socially disfuntional men and put us into three categories...
1. 'Mammys boys' - Those who may live at home, or are still close to their mother and cant cut the apron strings.
2. 'Texters' - Those who never say what they mean, string people out with vauge texts over a long period.
3. 'Players' - For this she describes a guy in a nightclub that picks up women (what this had to do with internet dating I dont know! )Anyway, she just annoyed me!!! Never took into account what women can equally be like on these sites or any of the positive aspects. My guess is she joined POF for a few days and based her assumptions on that, even though she has supposed to have wrote articles for the Independent on Internet Dating?!! Listen if you so choose....
Trealach01: Having listened to half the interview, because it was so boring I was left with two thoughts; (1) She hadn't a clue what to put into a profile, and didn't even bother reading profiles to get an idea. (2) She has a lot of 'growing up' to do. While she complains about 67 weird responses, it became quite clear that she hasn't got a minimum command of the English language, which isn't surprising for a reporter of that rag The Independent. For a young person who should understand the 'lingo' of the youth, it seems she has a lot to learn.
Just for the record the correct spelling for the word word 'disfunctional' is dysfunctional. It might help one's chances if one had a basic level of literacy.
Iseult_1: I read the article in the Independent yesterday... and unfortunately, she is pretty accurate... There are, of course, EXCEPTIONS, and it goes both ways men/female - she was just giving a female perspective...... I suppose if your a decent enough guy you would be very annoyed... but she is probably right about the 67 up for it emails... I logged back on here tonight and honestly reading some of the male posters comments on some of the threads here tonight are they really surprised they are single....?
Could you point out which threads you are referring to?

Yes, she had a horrendous voice and if I was a guy I wouldn't find it particularly attractive. Still, whether she was silly, needs to grow up or was probably just putting it out there for effect... which I suspect she was... and god love her ... bad spelling and all.... the truth is - she was accurate... even if you didn't like her delivery....

Not having received the type of emails she received, it would be hard to comment - but judging by the vast majority of threads on this site I would definitely agree they are dysfunctional to the point of being mentally challenged. If they fall short in creating the right impression by their foul language and attitude, then how do they hope to attract the right female - even they have their limits.
I wouldn't generalise. Yes, a lot are disfunctional on here (can't comment on other dating sites), and following the threads male and females, but not all members.
After a while you'll get the hang of it, just ignore what you don't like.

Its DYSFUNCTIONAL
It might helps ones chances if one had a basic level of litererarercy
