The simple things in life (22)

I dont know what sort of mood I am in today but I've been thinking about the simple things that make me happy.
I'm not talking about kids or friends but those random small stuff that we look forward to or enjoy.

For me its the warm sea breeze when taking my dog for a walk in the evenings.

Fresh cottage loaf...either one its own with butter.....or some homemade jamsmitten

a bar of whole nut out of the fridge with a cup of tea late at night.

So......whats yours?

How refreshing, the simple things in life are the best, what you mean no black Audi outside the door, the newest and the best of everything or so materialistic it wants to make one puke, persoanly watching the bats at the moment over the lake and that white owl not to mention watching the new star sky constellations as they rise from the east to south to west.

Autumn....

Garryland woods in County Galway, the smell of moss and foliage, the colours and shades of autumn...
Lahinch beach on a really blowy day with the dogs running about getting soaked...

Food...

Beef stew and dumplings, rounded off with fresh baked bread...
Freshly ground coffee....
A bottle of "hobgoblin" ale...
Bedtime Horlicks...

Other....

Wet happy dogs after a dip in the ocean...
The buzz after a good workout...
A hot bed on a cold night...
A good hug...

AB....conversing.....

Nice thread Mariannette :)

Ever since childhood I have loved been wrapped up warm and snug in bed listening to the howling wind and lashing rain outside. There's a lot of comfort and gratitude in that I find.

I love the smell of freshly cut grass and cold frosty mornings in November/December when you can see the twinkling of the frost on the tarmac as you walk.

I love the evenings when I'm sat here snuggled up and smelly candles lit (Yankee Sweet Strawberry being my favourite). Wine is optional grin

A clean house.....Oh my God how I love sitting down and putting my feet up admiring my hard work! Looking out at the freshly mowed lawn and how neat it looks for all of five days and getting into a bed with fresh sheets that have been ironed and smell of Bold 2in 1 Lavender and Camomile.

I know I am sad and really need to get a life but you did say 'small things' laugh

thumbs up happy place

I love those 'frost days' in December, in the run up to xmas, the days when the sun might be beaming, not a cloud in the sky but yet the frost never lifts.

Those nights in late November, the cold frosty ones, with not a cloud in the sky and all the stars visible, on such nights I can open be found head back, mouth open gazing skyward turning in circles on the spot thumbs up

The smell of Autumn.....I got a hint of it last week, I swear!! That sweet smell in the air and that little nip in the evening air, even if it has been a great day, still you can feel that chill arrive in the air.

Watching snowfall and being as excited as a kid about getting out in it, hearing it crunch under your feet, seeming how it tranforms everything and makes everything equal, all white, clean, soft and fresh.

Watching nature at work, how the birds and bees go about there business. Watching chicks talking there first steps out of there safe nest and realising that they have the ability to fly, but just need coaxing and gentle persuasion from their parents.

When your 'mailbox' lights up red, which, reminds me.....grin

Going for a long walk around Lough Derg when I have a lot on, especially when the sun is shining. When I want to relax a hot oil bath and a book. Coming home late from work just a tasty beef stew munching in bed. Best thing after a bad day is a big, long cuddle, but a frappuchino with ice cream has to do sometimes...dunno

Browsing thru the online Undertakers catalogue at different types of coffins and varnished colours often make me chill out and to put the nail in the coffin so to speak a marble engraved headstone leaves me drooling conversing

I love Garryland - especially as the sun sets, it gets dark all of a sudden and quite eerie. This time of year I'm always sorry I can't tell which mushrooms are edible.
Other simple pleasures
- going swimming without the kids - time to just enjoy my own company and thoughts.
- songs that make you sing your heart out when you hear them.
- strong tea at almost any time of day.

Funny you should post this, as I was actually having one of those days/moments today as well. Mine today was having a free day to myself, I spent some quality time with my dog and the dog I am fostering - watching them romp around and around in utter joy in the sun - watching them enjoy the simple things too (a game of chase me, chase you involving a stick and when that broke a bit of old rope they unearthed from somewhere). And just having a moment of "Ahhhh" - the warm sun beating down (for a rare change!) and actually feeling something bordering on "hot".

Just back from taking my dog for a walk along the beach.
The moon is huge and bright and yellow and casting a gorgeous glow across the water. It was warm and calm with the sea barely making any noise. The tide was out so it was easy walking even though its rather dark.
(oh and new pair of walking shoes....walking on the beach in them was like walking on a flat road....love em!)

I love going for a walk with the dogs in the rain cause it's so quiet and there's no one around, also love going to a particular part of the park as the leaves fall from the trees it does be lovely and the dogs have a ball playing in the leaves.

I also love being so comfortable with someone that you can just sit there in silence without feeling like you need to talk.

another one is when someone looks at you and they have a smile in their eyes smitten
