well I am spiritual in the native (Indian) ways where I believe in mother earth and all the spirits of the great land .. I do not believe in the "god" as a true native never knew that word until it was introduced by the white people

nomindgames: What do you take him/her to mean?
I find a lot of people who say they are spritual are off with the fairies la la land some of the peeps I have met are confused people and choose this way of life and half the time don't really understand it. JMO!
I am also spiritual. What that means to me, is that I am not religious, I don't follow man's religious doctrine, but my own convictions based on my own research and discernment.
For example: A spiritual person may believe in Christ, but not they way he is portrayed in the Bible, literature that has been modified many times to support the church's agenda of controlling the masses. If you don't think for yourself, your under control.
I am sort if like rubendario I believe in the bible and Christ and consider myself a christian but it is for you to choose what you should do with the laws of God whether you believe that you should follow every word but, I believe that God gives us the choice to trying to act the way you believe to be the best way to be in His eyes and to be a good person to all and not to judge people. I am not a nut case radical but choose to follow the rules of God the way I believe He would want me to do or be. But am I a religious nut no. I just believe God gives you the choice on how to act towards others and to be good to others as well but no one is perfect.

They're probably a materialist with a guilty conscience.
As for spiritual, they probably mean the cherrypicked and trendy aspects of a faith that once was, or is somewhere, genuine - Western Buddhism is a cracking example of this, it has almost nothing to do with real Buddhism but it's the fashion amongst certain wealthy circles of academia and the metropolis where it's just an excuse to collect plants, wear sandals and undeservedly look down upon every one you meet, and it ignores all of Buddhism that doesn't fit their rather blinkered view of the World.
Genuinely spiritual people usually follow a traditional belief and not a trendy one.

The ego looks for liberation from its unsatisfactory state, it knows something is missing but always looks in the wrong place. This is how most of us live our lives, searching for the next moment and reflecting on the past rarely living in the present moment. To be spiritual is to take control and deny the ego it's controlling power. We can then find the true self which is grounded in the present moment and will not pamper to the demands of an out of control ego, an affliction society has been suffering from for way too long. An awakening IS happening around the world and it cant be stopped.
