It does indeed, and history is exactly what it is we learn from it and move on, we are living in the present now, unlike yourself, you are obviously living in the past.
Bluefish22: I don't live my life in fear of the bad guy. I live it joy and harmony and thankfulness that I live in such a beautiful world!
I feel sorry for you people that you have created such a society that you don't feel safe in your own home without a firearm. Its certainly a different world to mine alright.
I don't live in a fantasy land or a land of fear, my life is totally peaceful and its going to remain that way

Galactic_bodhi: I'd be quite happy to. I've advocated all along for a strictly US forum on CS. As for US bases in your country, I'm a Libertarian and I don't particularly like our country playing policeman to the rest of the world, or "contaminating" other countries.
I'm all for an isolationist US. Trouble is, my country has politicians. And you know how that goes.
Whatever. I'm out of this useless debate between people who like to argue for no apparent reason other than there's nothing good on the telly and housework doesn't appeal. Time for me to do something more important. Like dishes. Or...I know....Laundry...yeah. Definitely more important than this debating in a vacuum.
I am not arguing... I am acknowledging that your country has so very more people.. you population compared to ours is huge... and therefore, it stands to reason that there will be more nutters... ( we have our nutters and ferals too) just in a smaller proportion...
Suggestions... think of some thing... you know your country better.. what can you think of that would go some way to easing the criminal problem... I mean.. I agree.. Its not nice ... in fact sad... to keep hearing of shootings ... we have them too... but not as much... ???
Bluefish22: oh, still no answer? Perhaps some sunblock on the back of the neck....
c'mon....it's not even fun no more....lets rehash this, you said, "irish?" and I said, well you know what I said... I'm Irish, so sure I'm going to say it was the intelligent Irish that colonized the US....geeezzzzzz
Oregongold: Would you really allow something bad happen to you in a life and death situation? Or would you just roll over and let harm come to you and say, WOW, that was great, can I have another since I would rather have the criminal live and I hope that he doesn't kill me?! BTW, I don't like harm to other EXCEPT TO THE CRIMINAL!
Of course I wouldnt like something bad to happen to me but I dont spend my live thinking that it might as people on this thread seem to. I am posting what I did earlier in the thread again, sorry but I have taken my night meds and tbh am getting tired, no am not a druggie lol.
I dont think I have bashed anyone and as you said this is an International forum not just a US one so International views have to be expected. I have read the majority of posts on this issue and try as I might I cannot get my head around the whole thing, I mean anyone even wanting to own a gun. It genuinely is beyond my comprehension and totally unbelievable to me and to be honest more than a bit frightening to think that others think its ok.
I find myself frustrated that I cannot even put into words how alien I find the whole idea.

I'm living a very peaceful life, with the knowledge that within a split second my life could be erased by my inability to protect myself or my family. I'm living beyond in the future

Good to hear... but surely, if you share that country, you might live in an OK part of it... but surely... you dont also want to be reading about the shootings of little kids...

Hi
You and I may not agree on things but thats life, but I think the person you are responding to is just stirring it tbh and wouldnt waste my time
Merriweather: So... good that's sorted... now what do you suggest?? as a long time alternative... because this has to end.. but it all takes a while...
what suggestion do you have that would actually help people think twice about committing an offence that scares the good people who are innocent of anything but going about their daily lives..??
and just assume... jails dont cut it anymore... ?????
Well, I like your idea about forcing military service on perpetrators of violence and theft.... the movie trailer I included before in my reply to you supports what you proposed.
I doubt we will ever rid the world of evil. I can only suggest that others be prepared to defend themselves when necessary. The idea that L.E.O. (law enforcement officers) will be there when you need them is misleading, at best.

Has a lot of sad history... talk about innocent people getting slaughtered, violently.....But I'm proud to be Irish, and yes one day I will visit Ireland

I think our court systems have got to quit cuddling the criminals.
I know there's always going to be the bad elements that's a given.
Maybe there needs to be some training for the parents so they know what to watch for when their children begin to display some strange behavior.

You are quite right... things occur unexpectedly... and law enforcement officers are not likely to be just loitering around.. for in case situations..
I remember when I was at school... the boys ( only) had compulsory national service... and most grew up with respect... even if they never went to war...
I think that when you become involved in something... like giving a small part of your life to learn and cooperate....( national service) that then meanz something personal... and people are likely to remember that their time was spent hence... and they often have good outcomes..

Have a good night, btw, I do respect peoples opinions, I might come off strong at times. Not my intent.. See ya!

I think you're correct....I'm done with that nonsense
