Can anyone tell me why a lot of men will not date women of their own age group? (41)

I suppose though that younger does not necessarily mean better looking and fitter. Think of George Clooney and Sharon Stone, then compare them with kids half their age on the streets, I know who I would prefer, think it boils down to looks.
But then the men on these dating sites greatly outnumber the women - (does anyone know why?) and it has been said many times that men give up ever receiving replies from women. I think they should be realistic.

lol they are just pushing their luck in hope of scoring,that is all,younger women equal fresher healthier more prestigious mate for them,I know where you are coming from and I find it equaly annoying when someone 10 years my senior thinks they are a good match for me,it is a little insulting..particularly when they look and remind me of my Father..
Long distance dating if you are free to relocate can work,specialy if you are not finding anyone local you can relate to,personaly I don't reply as I am not free to relocate,and find men in my area to talk to easy enough not to bother.

It seems an unfortunate fact of life that men in my age group, and older, seem to be looking for much younger women. For some reason I keep getting contacted by much younger men who are young enough to be my sons as they seem to think older women are desperate for the atention. One message last week said he's like to see me in thigh high leather boots and leather underwear - it's never going to happen but did make me laugh.
When i was a teen I watched a Sofia Loren movie on the box, she must have been in her late 20's or early 30's the moment she snogged a guy I thought what a revolting thought to kiss such an old bag.
What I'm saying is that it's all relative, If I live to be 90 that doesn't mean I'm attracted to 85 year old women just coz they're the same age. A 30 year old stunner is just as appealing regardless of my being 32 or 92.It's also a mid life crisis thing where the younger the woman is, the younger the man feels....like I'm still up to it, but in truth women just become accessories to the guy.

Just look at men and womens profiles on any dating site.
Men age discriminate in very high percentages. Their age or 15 years younger.
Now look at the womens prefered age ranges.
I think the raw age preference/range numbers speak for themselves.

Masculin hormons (don't ask which )are increasing by visual stimulation, because men were for many year hunters.
So they "hunt" a younger girl. This is also because of the balance of strength. A older man is running slower than a younger girl...so they run with aprox same speed. In other words the woman keeps the speed of the man.
Was a need many , many years ago.
Today women are equal to men...in theory....of course have the same rights, is normal, and decent...but they are realy diferent.
If a woman is strong enough si can get a younger guy.
But the younger guy will look always to a younger girl...biology and reflex.
So now we have a competition between to girls...who wins?...believe that the strongest.
I think that biology will win always....of course begining with an age, biology is losing the strength, and culture, education, habits become more influent.
In this case...everything is possible , an 18 years old guy getting married with one 100 years old lady , or vice versa...but is natural?
So girls I respect human rights, but biology does not care about those....
