I'm not aware of it but I have seen them out fundraising quite a lot so they either have a lot of groups or they pay their non-volunteer staff quite well. Forgive me, I'm just a cynic. I doubt that anyone would be so shallow and callous to use serious issues of human suffering like depression or suicide to further their career and feather their nest?

I'd keep going to AA Pedro. Btw, how are you getting on with that senorita?

ohwiseone: Very good organisation,

Could you direct Pedro to where he can find a 'very good' group in his area? We would then have his evidence as an end-user to go by rather than a thumbs up validation?

AWARE is an 'organisation' but more correctly it is a Limited Company. In 2011 the public gave almost €300,000 to the collectors and another €251,000 in grants through their taxes. The public also coughed up another €900,000 through fundraising activities. Total €1.5 million !!!!

Yes, it's a very good organisation for those involved who are not gullible volunteers but I suppose what Pedro is asking is, is there an actual AWARE group in his are for people with depression?

The best way to perpetuate your depression/anxiety is to join a depression/anxiety group.

Seek out 'happy' people.

Not exactly bottle it up but try not to feed it.

Of course the word 'depression' covers a wide range of mental illnesses. But the vast majority of sufferers are experiencing mild depression or anxiety which can be made worse by focusing too much on it.
I guess these kind of groups have their value for those who really need them, but for most, accepting your depression/anxiety, let it do it's worse then see who's really controlling it.

Well that would be a start. My point is that for most people suffering from mild depression/anxiety, continuously talking about it, joining depression groups, endless counselling sessions and medication can just perpetuate the condition or maybe even make it worse.
Of course there are those with a more serious form of depression from which there is no easy way forward but for most...do not feed it, don't discuss it, don't take meds, just convince yourself that you are ok even if it means acting the part of someone who is not suffering depression/anxiety.

It really does work...thumbs up
