Have you ever "burned your bridges" while your staunchest supporters were still standing on it??

Did you find a way to "rebuild"...or can that particular "bridge" even be rebuilt??

Burning bridges with people standing on them will require plenty of effort to rebuild, but you can't expect full cooperation from those who were standing on the bridge at any given point until things are 'repaired' as good as they can be. That being said, things may never be as they were pre-burning.

I don't think I have...

I sometimes keep silent for long periods, and those closest to me sometimes get pissed...but, they usually understand who I am, and love me for it anyway.

I would think anything one does shouldn't be unforgiven if the other cares that much? Unless a major moral has been severed...dunno.

Just remember some of your friends have wings and so are not effected by the fire.

They merely fly away from the bridge and wait patiently till you are done being a pyro.

some require lifeboats, I think, lol.

I think of some folks want to forgive, they will. I don't believe anyone should make another pay with thier soul to make it up.
Not sure what it takes to burn bridges?

It took ignorance on my part to burn bridges. I assumed that I would never have to cross some of them, again. Out of sight does not always mean out of mind.

Perhaps "arrogance"...perhaps "ignorance"...dunno

Maybe thinking those people you left standing on the other side of the bridge would not play an important part in your life someday?...
Or perhaps you didn't recognize the "importance" of those people in your life..

I'm trying to think if i myself have ever "burned my bridges" but honestly none comes readily to mind...I have always appreciated the fact that everyone i meet play some part in my life for reasons that i may not always know...or ever know...but that they were "sent" for a reason...

i've burned bunches, some intentional, some not so...

some needed to go, others hurt quite a bit.

it's taken many years to fix my reputation with my family and friends, and for some...they'll never trust me again.

it's my fault, so i don't blame them one bit.

Well, I know there are some who believe they are important, and have no role at all other than we me them once or twice...and, while all touch us...(ripples...), not all remain.

I know I cannot think of everyone all the time.
And, sometimes others refuse to stick with you when you need the time to heal, or go through things...I dunno wether they just don't have the patience in them, or what?

I would think unless someone you know closely had done an unimaginable thing, or is just a completely selfish twit, there would be nothing that stood in the way of freindship...
Hell, misunderstandings happen all the time. I don't believe thats an excuse.

Some folks cannot admit they are wrong, too. lots, lol.

LOL

do you still feel bad guilt when after admitting the wrong?

I used to. Not anymore. If I admit it, and the other still goes on and on? Then, it becomes thiers...yes?

like the movie groundhog day, yes?

Or, is it on purpose, because to feel the burn is something you know as compared to the fear of the change...?

It seems, sometimes, that as a neccessity some bridges have to be burned. That is, sometimes we have to turn and walk away and not look back... Sometimes, it is true that you "can't go home again." And sometimes it needs to be. When it comes to lifes' lessons, learning is like paddling upstream: The moment you stop, you start sliding back.

That being said, I also believe it is true that - The most difficult lesson to learn is: Which bridges to in life to use and which ones to burn.

And, as AB so aptly put it, some friends have wings and merely fly to a safe location until we are done being pyro's.

There are ruined bridges in my past that perhaps should not have been, but my true friends understand the reasons. There are others which should have been burned, but I lacked the strength to strike a match at the proper time and so lost the opportunity. And again, my true friends understood...

If during the burning...you sever ties that are disfunctional, or harmful...does it still qualify as burning bridges?
